AUSTRALIA: NSW: Sydney man Faheem Khalid Lodhi has been sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in jail for thought crimes.

Apparently Lodhi bowed his head but showed no other signs of emotion as he heard the sentence.

A Supreme Court jury found Lodhi guilty of planning to blow up the Australian electricity grid, with the goal of promoting his beliefs in [keywords] 'violent' 'jihad' like we were born yesterday?

Before he was arrested, Lodhi had gathered maps, chemicals and recipes for poisons and homemade bombs but not to carry out any plan.

However the fact that he like all of us collected things before being arrested somehow made him guilty of a crime?

He allegedly downloaded the material off the Internet, which is not usually illegal?

Lodhi made inquiries about the cost of chemicals and bought maps of the electricity grid in October 2003. Which was no crime!

The jury also convicted him of having a terrorism manual and preparing to make explosives.

They included a so-called "terror manual", a 15-page, handwritten document in Lodhi's native Urdu language with numerous recipes for explosives and poisons that he had obtained from the Internet.

Lodhi said he was just curious and had paid little attention to it.

One of the charges carried a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

In sentencing today, Justice Antony Whealy said Lodhi's plans were at a very early stage.

But how early can you get? Allegedly, at a 'thing' at no 'place' and no 'time'?

He said the effect of any bombing attack, which may have been carried out, would have meant that Australians would never again have felt safe from the threat of terrorism.

But what effect of what bombing attack? Thought crime attacks cause no vicitims or I might add no real threat to anyone! More fear has been created by the authorities baseless charges of crimes that were never committed and by the parrot press screaming out terrorist.

People being given 20 years jail to make others feel safe from no threat is not a community service or device but a blatant attack on the civil liberties of every person in Australia allowing the authorities to accuse people of thought crimes.

Last month, Lodhi's sentencing was delayed when Justice Anthony Whealy realised he had not been informed about changes to the relevant laws.

The New South Wales Department of Corrective Services will classify Lodhi as a double-A that's "AA" prisoner, meaning he is considered a special risk to national security.

Which also means for 20 years he will join the worst of the worst offenders and will remain in a box within a box with no fresh air or sunlight and no constructive lifestyle for 23 hours a day.

He will also face daily searches of his cell, have his phone calls recorded and not be allowed to mix with other prisoners or work in the prison. Even his visitors will have to undergo security checks that can take up to six months to clear if clearance is given to them at all.

Lodhi will be eligible for parole in 2019.
