George Michael returns to glory with political, anti-war show

Hassan Mirza, GAY.COM | 25.09.2006 18:33 | Anti-militarism | Gender

After a year of being an out-of-control tabloid whore, George Michael gets political, and played his first gig in 15 years Saturday.

18,000 fans flooded the Palau Sant Jordi arena in Barcelona as George Michael kicked off his Live 25 tour.

"I've been waiting for this moment,” George Michael told the crowd. "You're beautiful... thanks for coming."

The performance of ‘Shoot the Dog’ featured a huge blow up doll of George Bush.

Crowds cheered as Michal unzipped the trousers of the giant balloon to reveal a British bulldog draped with a UK flag, attached to the crotch and waving its tail.

In regards to getting caught with his pants down and his involvement in numerous bizarre incidents he told the crowd: "As much as I'm going to disappoint those people who want to see more of my bottom, I'm going to be less of a showman and more of a singer."

He also excused rumours that his voice may have been affected by years of pot smoking insisting, "I'm still a tenor. Some my falsetto may have gone, but my voice in general sounds pretty much the same as ever."

The set list includes:

'Waiting' 'Flawless' 'Fastlove' 'Father Figure' 'Star People' 'The First Time That Ever I Saw Your Face' 'Praying For Time' 'Too Funky' 'You Have Been Loved' 'Everything She Wants' 'My Mother Had A Brother' 'Shoot The Dog' 'Faith' 'Spinning The Wheel' 'Jesus To A Child' 'Easier Affair' 'A Different Corner' 'Amazing' 'I'm Your Man' 'Outside' 'Careless Whisper' 'Freedom '90'

The live 25 tour will play at the following venues:

Manchester MEN Arena (November 17/18/21), Glasgow SECC (22), London Earls Court (25/26/28/29), Birmingham NEC (December 2/3/4), London Wembley Arena (11/12/14/15)

George Michael, Tony Blair, and the Iraq War.

26.09.2006 08:54

When a secret service operation was used to destroy an attempt by British musicians to create a 'band-aid' style anti-war record before Blair's genocide of Iraq, George Michael was used by Blair in an aftermath PR exercise to explain why, with artists like him, THERE WAS NO NEED FOR AN ORGANISED ANTI-WAR RECORD.

When you see Michael, think Bono, and Geldof. Smirking monsters proud to do Blair's bidding. You shouldn't be too suprised. The nazis had their collection of showbiz scum too.

What saddens me is that people like Michael should be discredited for all time after their first mission for their master, but people have the memory of a goldfish. I will NEVER EVER forget the part George Michael played in destroying the anti-war record project.

Pop culture may seem a very trivial way of fighting Blair, but a band-aid style anti-war record would have been a million times more effective than last Saturday's Blair arranged mock-protest. One GOOD idea is worth a miilion people giving their time in a poorly conceived effort.

Anywar, remember, after Blair's perfectly created project on the 23 Sep, his war plans for Iran's destruction are now finalised, and approaching execution. Blair tested the water, and found it ideal in every respect. Many tens of thosands volunteered to act as living barometers, so that Blair could 'tap the glass' and say "yes, just as I thought, perfect weather for genocide- my enemies have been conditioned by my agents to be as passive and harmless as it is possible to imagine".

Thanks for passing that on about Bono. I always thought he was more dangerous than Geldof.
