Democracy of Rockets

Ibrahim Yahya | 29.09.2006 16:58 | Analysis | World

Why United States? The causes and effects for what so called the war on terrorism.

It is a mistake to think that war can be used to prevent another war. As the Dutch social scientist Henk Houweling said, “one of the causes of war is war itself”. Essayist and investigative journalist Barbara Ehrenreich stated in her essay “The Roots of War” that world war one caused great destruction for no reason, then it reproduced world war two.Cost of wars is always paid by people. They are the only ones who suffer either if their country wins or loses the war. “ Not only the means of production that shape the societies, but the means of destruction”, Barbara Ehrenreich said. U.S government is handling expenses of one million soldiers. Those expenses reduces the support for all other social functions. Therefore, many poor people in America have lost their support for education and health care. Outside politics of American government is going the wrong way. Therefore most people around the world have a negative impression toward United States. In fact, U.S government has failed most people in American regardless those who are seeking freedom and justice around the world. In last few decades, America was seen as a protector of human rights. People thought that the powerful weapons that U.S has built would be used to protect freedom
and human rights, but they have never thought that those weapons would be falling on their heads someday.

U.S.A patriot act has gave the government the right to violate others’ rights
inside and outside America. This act allows the government to freely trade off between security and liberty. People inside United States do not suffer more than people outside. The closest example is Guantánamo, where human rights are not putting into an account at all, and in Iraq and Afghanistan as well where the American soliders’ war crimes are trying to be hiding.U.S government has violated all kinds of human rights. U.S government understands democracy differently than others do. It forces others to adopt its own understanding. Destruction that U.S government created in Iraq showed innocent children and women what kind of freedom and democracy U.S government is trying to deliver, also made them reject the democracy of rockets, of smart bombs and blind soldiers. Hospitals
were not full of last regimes soldiers, but they were full of wounded women and children, so we should not be so surprised by seen a public resistance facing American army in Iraq.America has the right to protect its security, but it does not has the right to threat others’ security and destroy their cities. Seeking peace at the expenses of other’s freedom and lives explains a believe of considering some people’s blood is more valuable than other’sblood. What U.S government has gained from war it declared is nothing but fear, poverty, hunger, and caused for humanity to be humiliated. The war has never being the solution for any nation’s problems. War leads to another war. As Americans consider peace and safety are important conditions for happy life, others believe that as well. U.S government decided to choose war as a solution, so as a normal result, its enemies are growing while losing friends. Also the results were destruction of countries and
lost of many lives, but peace never achieved even in U.S. Fear of getting hit by terrorist attack never leaves most of the Americans. At any time they expect their government’s victims to revenge.

U.S government should stop practicing the policy of violence. It should find
another way to deliver its policies to the world. In other hand, U.S government should fix its policies inside America. What kind of security am I going to enjoy while I am hungry and do not have health care for me and my family?. American government should know how to trade off between security and liberty. Also American government should know how to use security to protect liberty with putting other’s liberty into account.
