LMHR is almost dead.

"clause 4" who are a bunch of ex-miners are owed so much money by the UAF/LMHR gang of trots, that they are pulling the plug on SWP/UAF/LMHR.

How shameful it is that they still advertise gigs.

I would advise anyone to stay away from this group of tossers until they pay the working class members who put their money up for it.

internecine leftist bullshit

As usual some on the left seem more intent on self cannibalization rather than focussing on the fact that there is a real enemey out there and it's the small minded bigots that hate difference. Can't we be a little better than that, please!

How would they owe money, anyone who plays gigs for LMHR play for free, after all it's a benefit gig. What a twat!!!!!

Tiny tits

Just to clarify

02.10.2006 20:47

"Tin Pot" (Tim?) is actually telling the truth. Clause 4 put on the gigs for expenses/outlay only,so in effect it was "free". However, you've obviously forgotten that although most artists do apper without fees, they do require their expenses to be met, which is what Claue 4 did on behalf of LMHR. It's something like £20k so far that LMHR have not reimbursed them for.

This includes catering, PA, venue hire, refreshments, printing and promoting, insurance etc, etc.

If you doubt it is true, I suggest you contact Clause 4, or better still Lee Billingham who was last heard to be saying "Yeah, I've asked the committee to release some funds, but until then can you do another round of gigs for us?"

The answer being "no".

They will not be doing it any more until LMHR pays the moneyback that they owe these decent ex-miners who have done laods of work for the left.

Ain't that right Tin Pot/Tim?

20K ...please

They are either greedy bastards or thick as pig shit.

I am sorry but i do not believe that any band can occur 20k expenses, what did they arrive in Rolls Royce followed by a week at the Ritz Hotel with Champange bar all in.

As you know LMHR gigs are pretty much a low key affair. Usually they have several bands performing and LMHR would have facilitated all of the bands basic costs, the PA and the venue would be paid up before hand and would be billed to a LMLR activitist rather than a single band. most of the time the bands are grateful to play for extra publicity whilst making a anti-racist stance.

It sounds like Tiny Tim is just trying to slurr the name of LMHR.

Tiny Willy

Please, don't comment on what you don't know.

03.10.2006 07:44

Thick as shit, eh?

How would LMHR afford to, or go about hiring a venue, PA, pay staff, insurance, transport, catering, security, insurance?

Live Aid cost millions to secure, that too was "free." You do not know what you're talking about. LMHR has had to pump what cash it has made into the UAF as union funding has dried up for UAF, the result of this is us being out of pocket.

I suggest if it is that easy to have a free gig, LMHR do it themselves.

Oh yeah, they can't, they've got no clue/got no money.

Venue staff, drivers, caterers, security staff, lighting crews, sound crews, do not come free.

£16,300 they owe, they can't afford to pay.

LIke the UAF wanker I suppose you are, you therefore blame someone else.

Let's see if anyone else could stage loads of gigs for that price.

Album launch - this Thursday

03.10.2006 13:16

This event is being organised by the Sheffield LMHR group who have nothing to do with this 'clause 4' event and any conflicts with the London group associated with it.

It's taking a lot of time and effort to organise this gig and if people have problems with the way the London group have behaved then please could they take them up with them and not publicly attack local activists working hard to do something positive for a change.

A few tickets are still available for Thursday's gig if people want to shoe their support.

LMHR - Sheffield

No corporate LMHR event in east end shows how it is.

04.10.2006 12:04

Some 500 young people crammed into The Cauliflower venue in Ilford, Essex, to watch Dirty Pretty Things and Roll Deep headline a benefit night for Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) to help boost the local campaign against the fascist British National Party (BNP).

The BNP has been targeting the outer areas of east London recently, gaining one seat on Redbridge council, where the gig took place, and 12 in neighbouring Barking & Dagenham.

Indie rock band Dirty Pretty Things are long standing LMHR supporters. Anthony and Didz from the band spoke to Socialist Worker about their reasons for headlining the event.

“Playing a small gig in a place like this can have a real impact,” said Anthony. “It’s very different from playing at some corporate sponsored event - this is about actions as opposed to preaching.”

Others on the bill included up and coming punk act The Mentalists and Dagenham based grime act OT Crew. “We want people to know that people round here want nothing to do with the BNP,” said OT’s Mikee. “Racism is a worldwide problem and we’ve got to get rid of it.”

Tickets for the event, which sold out before the show, were distributed to fans and activists through websites, record stores and the Recorder local newspaper. Several local trade unions supported the gig, with banners from the GMB, Unison and Amicus festooning the venue.

Steve Hart, London regional secretary for the T&G union, spoke from the stage about how ordinary Londoners - including his father - had joined forces 70 years ago to fight off the fascists at the Battle of Cable Street.

“People need to unite against the BNP - culturally, politically, and across communities,” he told Socialist Worker. “The lesson of Cable Street is that the labour movement is key to getting such a united and broad campaign against fascism.”

Other speakers included Milton McKenzie, a GMB activist and Labour councillor in Barking & Dagenham, as well as representatives of Barking MP Margaret Hodge.

The success of the gig reflects a widespread anger towards the BNP that reaches out across the communities of Barking, Dagenham and Redbridge.

And it shows the potential for mobilising that sentiment behind a united campaign that brings black and white together to drive the fascists out of town.

Barking & Dagenham Unite Against Fascism will meet on Monday 9 October, 6pm, at the St Margarets Centre, Broadway, Barking. E-mail  bardag@lovemusichateracism.com to get involved. The LMHR website is www.lovemusichateracism.com

Unite is hosting a conference against the BNP in the West Midlands this Saturday - go towww.uaf.org.uk
