Camp Falcon: What Really Happened?

Sarah Meyer | 23.10.2006 21:43 | Anti-militarism | World

Iraqis and Americans must read the information below. They must watch the two videos. And then they, and people over the world, must ask the U.S. government for a full and open explanation of what happened at Camp Falcon, Baghdad, on the 10th of October 2006.

Iraqis and Americans must read the information below. They must watch the two videos. And then they, and people over the world, must ask the U.S. government for a full and open explanation of what happened at Camp Falcon, Baghdad, on the 10th of October 2006.

Index has had the following report from an Iraqi concerning the explosions at As Saqr / Camp Falcon:

"The resistance attacked Camp Falcon south of Baghdad. This camp is considered as the most important munition camp. The explosions in the camp continued for three hours and was transmitted in direct on Al Jazeera. The resistance filmed the explosions and diffused them on the internet.

Iraq for ever of Fadhil Badrani translated the information on US Pentagon site which says that there were 5000 soldiers in this camp. But the Pentagon the same night declared that there were only 100 soldiers. This was evident is to hide the losses.

The resistance in Falluja and Habaniyah that there were 9 gros porteurs planes landed in Habaniyah the same night where there is a US military hospital.

Iraqis says that the attack costed US 1 million dollars, many hundred deaths and the conviction that controlling Baghdad plan is but a mirage."

Just before midnight Tuesday, the Iraqi Resistance fired barrages of Katyusha and Grad rockets into the arsenal, the largest such facility in occupied Iraq, causing the ordnance to begin to explode."

You should be really proud - at least the 'resistance' took a day off from kidnapping, bombing crowded civilian areas and people waiting for work.

How many babies were saved today because the gutless wonders actually managed to have a go a a militay target.

"How many babies were saved today because the gutless wonders actually managed to have a go a a militay target."

Well said! It's amazing how people get on their soapboxes when Israel targets civillians, but somehow completely disparate groups (of whom we're kept woefully ill-informed) who'lll do anything from bomb market places, to randomly shoot civillians on the grounds of religion are lumped together into some romantic imaginary national resistance movement.

Get real!

I feel sorry for anyone who derives pleasure from the killing of others.

I also read the various reports about an attack on this camp Falcon base.
As usual when there are conflicting reports it's hard to know what or which to believe.
Then again the reason that Indymedia was set up is because if you have actually been to a war zone or a country which has a U.S installed dicator, there are plenty of these, then you will know that it is not wise to believe anything that the corporate main stream media coughs up.
Whoever posted this article would seem to be asking a reasonable question ? I mean to be honest i don't know
for sure that camp falcon even exists although the name sounds hawkish enough.
As the poster seems to be asking a question one might expect some usefull comments but it's not to be just the usual mud slinger ignorants who don't know shit about american financed / run death squad.
They really believe the media report that the Taliban and or al-Qaeda is responsible everytime a bunch of people queueing at the local market get blown to pieces. perhaps they didn't hear about divide and rule
and the thousands of millions of atrocities carried out by the colonial powers of centuries of legalized rape and pillage.
Every now and again the corporate media let one slip. How about this for this morning from Andrew Norths Bagdad diary on  http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6076928.stm

There's been a fairly constant crackle of gunfire all day - a kind of running commentary on the capital's slide into madness.

Trigger-happy security men barging through the streets in blacked-out 4x4s cause most of the shooting.

so what about these security dudes ? are they the same private armies that are controlling security
on the streets of europe ? Group 4 is pretty big round the world and private security is very big in most european countries, I also seem to remember a story about two extremely well tooled up members of the SAS who were stopped on their way to a fancy dress party !!!!

WTF!

24.10.2006 08:56

1. Nobody is glorifying those deaths here, but to ignore them or cover them up is tantamount to saying they don't count either as people or as a significant event in the disater that is amerikan policy in the middle east.

2. Soapbox!?! The issue turned into some weird vindication of israel death-cult practices? For fucks sake ...get lost.

3. At least the poster had the guts to stand by her words with a name and contact details, as well as giving a reasoned disicion on her sources ...

... an attempt to distract from the issues by three comments from either three unremarkable dumb people or one really remarkably dumb person.

Apart from your reasoned and carfully calculated your dumb argument I would, which I must say is bright clearly thought out and noble prize worthy - I don't think a random name and a blog constitutes real disclosure.

Or perhaps it would help you if I listed the points out in number order - perhaps that will help you understand it better - or perhaps if the arguments was laid out in txt talk you might get it - wtf.

No.

25.10.2006 11:32

But it is a way of letting others know that [your] lack of material from which to argue from is clear and premeditated.

Do you worship the cult of personality? (Your own presumably?)

As always there is a voice (yours) calling for others to ignore information and to not process the analysis of others. Why?

It's not as if you offer alternatives ... other than: 'nothing to see here, move along'.

Now where have I heard that before?

25.10.2006 12:39

Hmm terrific comeback, gone one stage above the name calling argument to the your up your own arse argument ie the personality cult.

Well done how do you think of this stuff?!

My comment was not to ignore thisblog masquerading as 'research' but to celebrate the fact that the so called 'resistance fighters' were actually having a go at a military target rather than blowing kids up in the street.

Dummy

well ...

26.10.2006 08:50

... obviously your fine and moving point has been lost on us dummies, who find it somewhat obscure ...

... and I suppose you base that observation on your slavish devotion to the embedded western media ... who are always telling you that the iraqi national resistance are more interested in blowing up markets than tanks ...

... no wonder you are confused!

More Research on What Went Off at Camp Falcon

There could be several explanations for all of this. One is that the date was added or changed by GooTube to discredit, as was apparently done with the Pentagon images we got years ago (the date of September 12 was clearly visible on those images).

Another possible explanation is that there were two separate ammunitions dumps that caugh fire and were completely destroyed and these happened several months apart.

Still another is that it took FIVE MONTHS for news to reach us of the destruction of the Falcon base and in this case, as in the second, we see the efficiency and freedom of American news media.

Did I miss any possibilities?

Thanks for pointing this out. This information is key, somehow, I am sure. This post is getting attached to the video at my blog (as an added comment) which, at my end anyway, is still functioning.

Your name will be kept a secret.

Blogger note: I have personally uploaded lots of videos to that site and none accidentally came up with the wrong date. Can you say GooTube?

Apparently there have been some efforts to discredit the existence of small scale tactical nukes. They aren't new folks:

"The M-388 Davy Crockett was a tactical nuclear recoilless rifle projectile that was deployed by the United States during the Cold War. It was named after American soldier, Congressman and folk hero Davy Crockett (1786-1836)."

There is more here.

Someone wrote to me:

It was suggested in a post that the explosion in question could not have been a tactical nuke because there was no electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) to 'knock-out' the cameras filming this event. Well it should be remembered that the Enola Gay, the B-29, that dropped the bomb on Nagasaki wasn't knocked out of the air by EMP! You can verify this by doing a search on "nuclear emp" in Wikipedia. For small nuclear detonations, such as tactical nukes, the resultant EMP in magnitude enough to do this would have a very short range, 1/4 mile or less. The explosion we witnessed at Camp Falcon is entirely consistent with that of a tactical nuclear device with a 10 to 20 kiloton capacity.

The DoD isn't saying much about the incident. They're zipped tight about the incident. When all of this is considered, it does not bode well. As I said before, I hope this was not a tactical nuke, but I have my nagging doubts almost to certainty that it was.

Thank-you Eric for the post. The implications are of a magnitude that boggles the mind. If this was a tactical nuke, what was it doing in Bagdhad? Was it designed for a 'false flag' event to initiate hostilities with Iran? I hope there are enough Commanders in the field in Iraq that possess the sense to recognize the lunacy of this and the courage to blow the whistle. I'm not sure we're getting enough information out of this area. I wish we could get more.

All manner of attempts to discredit this bit of news have arised and why not? This has the potential to be far more damaging to the Bush administration than anything that has occured on his watch yet - yes anything. We are talking about storing nuclear devices in a foreign country, in a war zone. For what?

There has been a steady campaign, as well, to paint this explosion as some other kind of very large bomb. Here I provide links to video evidence showing what happens when the largest non-nuclear bomb ever created goes off, the MOAB. You will notice that the MOAB, unlike the bomb that went off in Iraq, does not bathe the entire landscape in white light, which is a form of electromagnetic radiation (thermal radiation, or heat, is not the same color). As well, it does not mushroom, this the biggest non-nuclear device ever devised. The last link, below, shows the first ever H-bomb detonation, in which we see the brilliant flash first (clearly visible even in broad daylight), as in the Iraq videos.

The Iraqi video is useful in that it shows a much further angle, showing just how much of the city is bathed in light and the Marines' video is useful in that we see concern about fallout in regards to wind directions and that the sirens did not go off until the mushroom went off.
