Israel to be banned

HELSINKI, Finland - Eurovision Song Contest organizers said Thursday they will ban this year's Israeli entry, Toe-rags' Push the Button, because of what they termed its inappropriate political message.

The song, to be performed at the contest in Helsinki in May, overwhelmingly won Israel's competition Wednesday.

It refers to Iran's alleged ‘nuclear weapons’ ambitions and its leader, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"It's absolutely clear that this kind of message is not appropriate for the competition," said Kjell Ekholm, an organizer of the contest.

"We'll have all the delegation leaders here in Helsinki next week, and I'm sure we'll talk about this case within the EBU [European Broadcasting Union] group."

The song warns about the dangers of nuclear war from a state thety does not have nuclear weapons, and the lyrics of the song refer to demonic and crazy rulers, and say that he's gonna blow us up to ... kingdom come.

It fails to mention their own crazy set of rulers which contain rapists, corrupt thieves and psychos.

"EUROVISION Song Contest organisers say they might ban this year's Israeli entry, Push the Button, because of its "inappropriate" political message."

Says

 http://www.theage.com.au/news/entertainment/israels-eurovision-entry-faces-ban/2007/03/02/1172338881471.html

So they only "might ban" it according to the above.I think they should,as it is a blatant attempt at propaganda. However ,as the poster pointed out-Why are Israel in the Eurovision anyway? Is it in Europe?
Who's clever idea was this song anyhow?Someone totally un connected to any form of US/Israeli Intel Agencies,no doubt(sarc).Watch this story get banned soon,I expect..

Computer Age (Push the Button)

02.03.2007 22:44

Of one of my favourite electro tracks..

The computer age is now /
Everyone must have a machine /
They it's gonna make life easier /
But I can't stand it

Push the button!

They say their gonna give us new souls /
But maybe once they've taken control /
Then they might regret playing god /
When they first make an error

Push the button!

I know the lord would not be too glad /
In fact I'm sure he must be quite mad /
To see us take control from our lives /
And give it to computers

Push the button!

Garbage!

03.03.2007 00:31

Yeah, number one: Israel is not part of Europe (should someone tell them?)

And two: if you listen to this song, it’s garbage!….and I’m not talking politics here, I’m talking music..… so awful, it’s embarrassing.

So, I guess, Israel just ain’t cool in more ways than one.

you damn...

03.03.2007 23:39

...rabble of antisemites! i bet you get all worked up about your boogeyman israel getting kicked out of a towering symbol of comercial pop-crap music.

of course israel has its faults and terrible ones at that. the tensions between israelis and palestinians are as much israel's fault as those of the palestinian population (more specifically the leaders of both populations), but a small state like israel needs to protect itself from the rampant (and amongst other things holocaust-denying) antisemitic clerics of iran. i am not an advocat of outside regime change in that case or any other neolib nonsense, however i do see that israel, with its comparatively good democracy (albeit an exclusive one) is much more advanced than iran. the israeli government would not allow women who have sex outside marriage to be stoned would they?!?!?

a further point is that by "othering" israel into non-european categories, the idiot author(s) of this silly little article subconciously aim to lift europe into the sphere of the better. as if all the eu countries didn't have their own problems with attacks on social and democratic rights, racist parties and segments of the population, racist detention centres and deportation practices!!!
