The Indymedia concept was a fantastic one when it started in Seattle and I was so pleased to see a UK site launched, indeed I did some early coding work for the first concepts but the now daily obsession with all things Jewish and / or Israel has reduced this site to an irrelevant joke.
Of course there are problems in Israel, of course publicity should be given to abuses by the Israeli government if and when it occurs but the non stop posting of what are in effect Jew bashing articles is pathetic and racist.
What might be called the Left in the UK has done far to little to deal with the anti semitism that is a cancer within the movement. Indymedia has a similar although far bigger problem as much of the racism is blatent and repeated. Holocaust denial, hiding of posts about attacks on Jews, revisionist articles, support for Hamas terrorism and faked photos are all daily fare. What is worse is the attempt to defend this racism, comments which show the truth are hidden, posts providing facts about a situation or event are either edited or simply removed. Questions emailed to the lists are ignored and removed from the archive and those who have tried to the improve the site have quickly been tagged as Trolls to prevent their voices being heard.
I now give up and hope that either somebody is prepared to change the site or perhaps more likely they will throw their support behind the new British Indymedia newswire that is being set up at the moment. see www (edit).
