Protest against palm oil loans
Diet Simon | 26.04.2007 07:27
The Asian Development Bank has played a decisive and disgraceful role in rain forest destruction by funding palm oil plantations.
The ADB is a multinational development bank of whose capital Germany owns 4.4%, the largest European holding. Together the EU states control 16.8% of the voting rights at the ADB.
“Demand of the ADB directors not to approve loans for new palm oil plantations,” exhorts Rettet den Regenwald.
More information and a sample letter are at http://www.regenwald.org/international/englisch/protestaktion.php?id=160.
“Also ask friends and acquaintances to take part in this action.”
