'Forest Watch' launched by the Forestry Commission

Anti-Mace | 30.08.2007 12:49

Got this from the 'Royal Forestry Society'....

"Action on forest crime
Forestry Commission Wales has launched a new scheme to tackle the unacceptably high levels of crime in woodlands, which range from burnt-out cars and fly tipping, to vandalism and hiding drugs. Forest Watch will be co-ordinated by a serving police officer, who has been seconded from the local Force for three years. See www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-73GDWK. Thirty-five people who are "fed up of the crime they see" have already joined the neighbourhood-watch-style scheme."

Heres' the link:

www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-73GDWK

This is pathetic and sick. The state is the ultimate criminal organisation, in the context of wales it is a colonialists state. Don't collaborate with these police foculised 'watch' schemes - they are pure nazi poison dressed up as being 'helpful' and 'community supportive'.

Forests should be ours

30.08.2007 19:14

Dunno. Forests should be for everybody to wander around in and enjoy, but there are always some nobheads who don't respect their environement. What do you suggest people who use and respect living forests should do about the twats who burn down or cut down the trees, or chuck their litter about? Part of my local woods (Formby nature reserve) was set on fire last year, the trees are now charred stumps and it's going to take 20 years for the wood to grow back the way it was.

Anti-Mace. If you will include the http:// before the www. then the software will enable people to click there directly to the site and not faff about with copy and paste.

Spartaca-
People destroy forests. Forests are an essential source of raw material and well as being a key part of the ecology. People are destroying their own environment by clearing forests. In South Wales, forests are frequently burnt because they are a tax dodge of the Rich in a politically aware area. Perhaps they are sometimes burnt as Commission owned to do down the UK Government.

If you want a self regenerating forest that will replace itself most rapidly and be more resistant to fire, then undertake some guerrilla forestry and plant Sequoia Sempervirens. Call that a Memorial to Judi Bari. Those trees will stand a lot of shade, so can be planted in existing forests ready to shoot up, even coppice, when the existing trees are cleared. Vulnerable when small to Bracken overgrowing them and forming a smothering blanket in the winter.

The ignorant politicians direct the Forestry Commission to introduce all sorts of get rich schemes - for the Rich, and for the stupid people who have gone into debt to get Degrees and now get fat fees for drawing up 'sustainable' schemes with native trees. This sustinable farrago is a nonsense in the UK, there have been felling licences and requirements to replant for ages. We need as wide a varity of trees as possible to cope with the unknown outcome of Climate Change. Those who demand Natives only are racists.. ignorant bigots who vote for those corrupt people known collectively as politicians.

There is an MSc thesis "The growth, use and potential, for coast redwood within the United Kingdom" at the School of Environment and Natural Resources at Bangor in Gwynedd. submitted May 2007.

My preferences include various cedars from California to Alaska and around the world east to to Japan..

Look at current land prices...

02.09.2007 02:39

..in Wales:

 http://www.balfours.co.uk/index.php?option=com_hotproperty&task=view&tpl=comm&id=255

Ok, this isn't forestry which is cheaper...

 http://www.johnclegg.co.uk/woodlands/wales/south-wales/listing.asp?x=32

But the price for the bare mountain is ridiculas!

£450000 for 89 acres?!...a few years ago that would not have been more than £500/acre on a good day. Good times for farming I guess. This HAS to be a speculative boom, and theres only one way that can go.

Valuation

02.09.2007 17:14

That North Wales mountain land is very optimistically priced unless they have planning permission for a lot of big windmills, and expect heavy lift Airships to be for hire soon. Most land like that is in the hands of the old Great Landowners that New Labour are so keen to re-establish in great wealth. The talk in 1954, when the Miners' Strike was being planned in pre-Thatcher days to break "The Vanguard of the Working Class", was also to introduce 'National Assistance' to re-enrich the Rich. Thatcherite policies continued by Blair and Brown.

The terms set up by New Labour to compel Electricity Generators to go Green are lading great wealth onto those who own windy land. Even more profitable than the risk free Privatisation scams that rip off local communities.

There is a fairly healthy price asked for the Monmouth forest but maybe the growing trees are worth it. Hard to tell as they do not specify species and age. Lots of well grown well pruned Cherry for veneer and it could be cheap. Register with Cleggs, print out the PDF, check it is still for sale, and go see for yourself.

Then find a public access forest and visit that.

Do not forget the Guerrilla Forestry.

Try this for real American Justice.

See  http://www.judibari.org/
That result suggests it is time for the FBI to do something about the Florida election fraud.

There are some words and a picture posted about an hour ago of the Carrera Marble in a South Wales forest waiting to appear here. Perhaps putting the picture has slowed things down.
