Over 2000 Nottingham professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 have been questioned about their social networks and lives in the city, as part of a nationwide survey conducted by CitySocialising, a social networking site and events company for city professionals in the UK. The research involved a total of 15,000 people in cities across the UK.

The research revealed:

• 53% of Nottingham professionals are keen to expand their network of friends in the city, citing being new to the city and friends settling down with partners, as the two major reasons.

• Nottingham was voted the fourth most difficult place, after London, Bristol and Birmingham, to make new friends. Brighton was the voted the easiest place to make new friends at number 1. Manchester was 2nd and Glasgow was 3rd. London was last.

• 42% of Nottingham professionals questioned found people in Nottingham very friendly, and 58% said they considered it a difficult city in which to make new friends beyond the office or usual social crowd.

• A huge 60% of those questioned considered spending time with friends as more important to their lives than finding or being in love (19%), seeing family (12%) and making money (9%).

• 59% of those questioned said the best way to meet people in Nottingham was at work and the worst place was in a restaurant.

• In terms of best places to meet new friends, 55% of people questioned said Nottingham’s bars and clubs.

• Specifically, Nottingham’s Pitcher & Piano bar, the Oceana and Media/Gatecrasher clubs were considered the best place to meet new friends.

Sanchita Saha, founder of CitySocialising and queen of the UK’s social scene said:
“Nottingham is clearly full of people who value spending time with friends. It’s vibrant scene provides ample places to socialise with friends but it seems that the city’s young professionals are seeking an easier way to meet new friends in the city beyond the office. This is precisely why CitySocialising have launched a service in the area, to help connect like minded Nottingham professionals who are seeking to make the most of Nottingham’s great bars and clubs with new friends.”

The public are given a FREE invitation to attend CitySocialising’s official Nottingham launch event on Thursday 15th November 2007 between 7.30pm - 1am at Dogma, 9 Byard Lane, The Lace Market, Nottingham NG1 2GJ. The launch party will be an opportunity to meet and socialise with over one hundred young, outgoing Nottingham professionals in CitySocialising’s laid-back signature style.

Places are strictly limited and those wishing to attend must reserve a place in advance. Simply visit the CitySocialising Nottingham website at  http://nottingham.citysocialising.com and register for free to book onto the event. The public are invited to see the profiles of all the other guests attending, message others before (and after) the night, compile a Friends List after the event to keep in touch with people they get on with and have free limited access to all of CitySocialising’s other online networking features.

About CitySocialising

CitySocialising’s is the area’s newest social networking and events company that connects like minded people and new friends in Nottingham and its surrounding areas. An easy, safe and relaxed way for young professionals to connect, meet and socialise platonically and make the most of Nottingham’s vibrant social scene and attractions.

CitySocialising launched in London in January 2005 with start-up funding from The Prince’s Trust. CitySocialising combine online social networking features with offline social events and activities and currently operate sites and services across other major UK cities including Manchester, Leeds, Brighton, Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Further city launches are planned for 2008.
