The Black Church and the Hollowing Out of Black Politics

Much of what passes for Black leadership no longer represents African American political interests or opinion, having broken from their progressive mass moorings under the lure of corporate money and “faith-based” government bribes. Black politicians dance to the tunes of Big Business campaign contributors, while many Black preachers “ape the undemocratic and bigoted worst” of their white Christian counterparts.

The ambitions of both the secular and religious hustlers converge in Memphis Tennessee, where Black preachers fan the flames of homophobia to elect their chosen candidate, and in Georgia, where an elected Black county executive is poised to run for Cynthia McKinney’s old seat in Congress with the help of real estate interests and money-grubbing mega-preachers, thus threatening to push the Congressional Black Caucus further to the Right. The Black Georgia incumbent congressman’s crime: he’s a Buddhist.

For some time, the politics of Black America has been the sane left anchor of the wider American polity. The Congressional Black Caucus used to justifiably call itself the "conscience of the Congress." And Dr. King himself once opined that it might be the role of Black activists to "save the soul of America." Sadly, that might be about to change.
Despite the fact that Democratic party leaders have adopted the phony "war on terror" as their own, African Americans who are the party's most loyal constituency, remain overwhelmingly opposed to increased military budgets, to current and further imperial adventures, and the most skeptical of the need for increased surveillance and unchecked police power. African Americans are more in favor of single payer health care, equal funding for public education, and increased federal aid to ensure affordable housing than anyone else. For more than a generation we have been and remain the most likely to join unions, and we have the least confidence in the fairness of the criminal justice regime.

But while grassroots Black opinion is relatively stable, the politics of Black American "leadership" is definitely shifting. A new generation of corporate-funded and media-anointed Black leaders, among them a fair number of Republican leaning preachers grown fat on their "faith based" [1] federal subsidies has been raised up. They are decisively uncoupling themselves from the progressive tradition of previous African American leadership, and from the Black Consensus itself. If this new wave of African American leaders have their way, the politics of Black America will soon ape the undemocratic and bigoted worst of white America.
Damning evidence of this trend surfaced just before Christmas in an obscure [2]Georgia political journal. Vernon Jones, Black two-term elected CEO of the state's second largest county, was being urged by his advisers to run for Congress in the Democratic primary against freshman Congressman Hank Johnson, the man who replaced Rep. Cynthia McKinney in 2006. Vernon Jones' trump card, according to the advisers, was the backing of prominent Black pastors who would urge their people to vote against the incumbent black representative on the sole grounds that he is a Buddhist. Thus cynical Black ministers are poised to encourage and exploit religious bigotry in Black communities for their own economic and political gain. This is how low the Black church, the historic cradle of grassroots leadership since slavery, has sunk.
Turncoat Politics
Quite apart from his eagerness to ride to Congress on religious intolerance, the political career of Vernon Jones is more than a little odd. A Black Democrat in roughly the same suburban Atlanta district that elected Cynthia McKinney to six terms in Congress, Jones admits voting for Bush in 2000 and 2004 and publicly flirted with switching to the Republican party in 2002 and 2003. The biggest contributors [3] to his current political campaign are the family, employees and lawyers of Mel "you pay a little more, you get a little more" Sembler, a former chief fundraiser for the 2000 Republican National Committee. Sembler is a real estate developer with billions of dollars in projects ranging from big box retail stores to office towers and luxury condos in Dekalb County GA, where Vernon Jones is the county CEO.
Most observers agree that Vernon Jones is only pretending to run a doomed and desultory statewide campaign for the Democratic nomination against Georgia's odious Saxby Chambliss. From his traveling to DC to meet [4] with Chambliss on the eve of his announcement to his posturing as a self-described conservative Democrat [5], to his support of current and future wars abroad and questionable police practices at home, and his endorsement [6] of the regressive and harebrained "Fair Tax," Jones' stands on the issues place him far to the right of Democratic voters, let alone Black ones in Georgia or anyplace else. That he has nonetheless managed to carve out a political career as a nominal Democrat at all speaks to the hollowness of Democratic party politics, to its distance from the lives and concerns of Georgia Democrats, most of whom are African American.
News Vacuum
There is no shortage of political issues that affect African American voters and communities in places like Detroit, Philadelphia, Chicago or Atlanta, matters about which they care deeply. But the near disappearance of local news coverage makes those issues invisible. In particular, the absence of news [7] on Black-oriented commercial radio, which reaches more than 80% of African American households, has shriveled and shrunk the space for public discussion of issues inside the Black community to nearly the vanishing point. Ongoing public policies of ethnic cleansing and gentrification, through such means as local tax policies, bond issues and the federal HOPE VI program are being implemented in every city in North America including Atlanta, which has had Black mayors since the mid 1970s. But you will search the broadcast and print media, including Black-owned or Black-oriented media in vain for news and analyses connecting the dots and explaining how public resources and revenue are diverted for these purposes. Similarly, Black opposition to the war in Iraq, though all but universal among African Americans, is virtually invisible even in Black-oriented media.

In this context of content-free urban politics, the intervention of right wing Black ministers on behalf of Black candidates flush by corporate and sometimes Republican cash can make political careers and set political agendas. Atlanta's Bishop Eddie Long, whose ministries are believed to have benefited from more than a million dollars in Republican "faith based" government subsidies, has been a vocal supporter of and a consistent donor [8] to Vernon Jones over the years, giving more than the legal limit on at least one occasion. There is no doubt that Eddie Long is one of the local pastors expected to boost Jones from the pulpit because his opponent is a Buddhist.
He won't the only one. In 2006, people close to Bishop T.D. Jakes are said to have proposed a meeting with Rep. Cynthia McKinney offering to support her against Hank Johnson for the same reason - because Johnson was a Buddhist. Vernon Jones has until May to declare what most believe is his real target - the seat once held by Cynthia McKinney. With a ton of money and big-time ministers behind him in the news-free environment of present-day urban politics, he could well succeed.
Un-Christian Behavior
"Sad to say, quite a few Black ministers will be on board for this," Dr. Kenneth Samuels, pastor of Victory For The World Church in Stone Mountain GA told us. "I can't think of anything more un-Christ-like than targeting a public servant not because of his performance, but because of his religious beliefs. It's un-Christian in that Christ gave his life not for Christians, but for the world."
The same unholy alliance [9] is at work in Memphis TN, where white Rep. Steve Cohen succeeded Harold Ford, who may have been the worst Black congressman ever. Ford rushed to Bush's side to be first to support the invasion of Iraq. He offered himself as the swing vote to Bush's Social Security privatization scheme and, in an attempt to jack his share of the white vote, even claimed his own Black grandmother was white. Ford now chairs the DLC. Organized Black Baptist pastors who supported this clown's career and now endorse Ford's chosen successor Nikki Tinker, have ceaselessly fanned the flames of anti-gay bigotry in their attacks against Cohen, claiming he is utterly unfit to represent Black Memphis in Congress even though Cohen scored better on the CBC Monitor Report Card than half the Congressional Black Caucus.
Faith-Based Bribery
The fears of those who predicted that billions of dollars in faith-based subsidies distributed by the Bush Administration to churches across the country would build a Republican patronage machine in white constituencies, and severely blunt the prophetic edge of the Black Church, may be coming to pass. Where once Black pastors were among the few who could speak truth to power with little fear of economic retaliation, many may now have ministries with governmental funding streams to worry about, while the least principled among them have been emboldened to ape the talking points and political interventions of white right wing ministers. In the current context, given the flood of corporate money available to pliant African American politicians, and the lack of local news coverage that might facilitate their being held accountable, the interventions of the Black Church into politics only threaten to take those politics further and further away from the desires of African American constituencies.

"Some of us in the Church are coming into political involvement from the wrong perspective," concluded Rev. Samuels of Stone Mountain GA. "We've abandoned the models of Dr. King, a Christian, and of Malcolm X, a Muslim, who taught that we are all children of God. God is a God of us all. To approach public policy in a way that seeks to have one's doctrines legalized and mandated into law is antithetical to the tradition of the prophets, who stood for equity, for justice and for liberation.
"Right wing Christians are trying to narrow Dr. King's Beloved Community into a community of Christians alone, and then only a certain type of Christian. It speaks to a lack of spiritual insight, a dearth of theological training, an absence of community focus. We must not let this happen."

Steve Cokely-Sometimes someone will want to look better for having access to certain information and as opposed to using it effectively, to advance the mass of our people, they try to take the info to the enemy and entertain them about what they already know, to show that they know more than other black people.
This piece is dedicated to brutha Steve Cokely for his tireless efforts to "seek and find" vital information pertaining to the upliftment of Afrikan people. If it weren't for this God'z tenacity to penetrate the forces of white supremacy with liquid swordz, I can honestly say, we would not know of the New World Order and the history of its members as we do now. He has truly been an inspiration to me. Biggup brutha Cokely!!
As we come into knowledge of self, we must, as well, come into knowledge of who doesn't want us to "know thyself". The average Afrikan who has some knowledge of white supremacy might feel it's been, and only been, the "blue-eyed devil" that is responsible. True, but not truth. If you read the piece I wrote last month, IZ YT Human? or Mutant!, you found that brutha moses (the one who went to the caucus mountains to "civilize" the beast) was one of the first sell-outs of theAfrikan spirit.
As you well know, this country was found by criminal minded beasts, who colonized this area just as they did Afrika in the 1800s. As we had our plantations in the south with house negroes and field Afrikans, we find that this trend has never changed as the years have gone by. Thanks to research done by brutha Cokely, we have found that there is a black secret society that has been closely associated with maintaining the grip of white supremacy on people of color. These same secret societies, these house negroes answer to, have a long history rooted in the physical and mental enslavement of Afrikans around the globe. This black "secret society" is called the Boule' aka. Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, founded May 15, 1904. This is the 1st black fraternity in America and was before the 1st black "college" frat, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.
The origin of the Boule' is what we are going to concentrate on and by the end of this 2-3 part series, you will be able to decide whether they are bruthaz or not.
The Boule' is a black GREEK secret society based on another secret society founded at Yale University called Skull & Bones. The Boule's founder was Dr. Henry Minton, of Philadelphia, Pa, in 1904. The founding member of the New York chapter, WEB DuBois, said the Boule' was created to "keep the black professional away from the ranks of Marcus Garvey." (One thing that needs to be pointed out is the time period. At the founding of the Boule', it was also a time Marcus Garvey's "Back to Afrika" movement was reaching a million plus people without tv or radio.) DuBois emphasized, as Cokely stated, "the importance to steal the black professional away from Garvey because an Afrocentric organization that articulated and capture the black professional would give YT no safe haven in the black community, so the Boule' -- the remaking of the house negro was necessary to build a group of negroes who had an investment in protecting the white system as produced by YT having stolen this land from a population still in existence in the late 1800s and early 1900s; and a dawning population breaking the shackles of overt slavery, had to be railroaded in a way. This is post reconstruction. Taking away the articulate negro, now desiring to replace them with organized institutions to keep them away from self-improvement. So we find in the same period, as the founding of the Boule', the founding of the 4 black male (Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, and Phi Beta Sigma) and 4 black female (Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Gamma Rho) college-based fraternities and sororities...We also find the founding of the NAACP and Urban League."
Back to DuBois against Garvey. DuBois was one of the strongest opponents of Garvey and was an instrumental "tool" (he was used by someone else, will explain, read on, son!) in stopping one of the strongest grassroots movements in this century. What was Garvey's plan? His plan was to take as many Afrikans from the america's and start a settlement in the nation of Liberia and then help their new nation produce and control their own rubber crops and other natural resources. Garvey said, "If the oil of Afrika is good for Rockefeller's interest; if iron is good for Carnegie trust; then these minerals are good for us. Why should we allow wall street and the capitalist group of amerikkka and other countries exploit our country when they refuse to give us a fair chance in the countries of our adoption? Why should not Afrika give to the world its black Rockefeller, Rothschild, and Henry Ford?" This would've meant no Firestone, as we know it today, because it would have set a precedent that would have made all Afrikans aware of their land and mineral wealth. This would've smashed the financial arm of white supremacy. DuBois, along with Elaine Locke -- the first black (Cecil) Rhodes scholar (will explain) -- publicly defiled Garvey by calling him a "gorilla, dark, and dumb ass" any chance they got -- is this separation or what?! Locke was quoted as saying, "We hope the white man deliver's cause we crushed a great black thing, but we know he'll deliver or our people will attack and plague us forever more." These two house negroes made a bet that YT would come out on top and give a certain percentage of these greedy negroes, namely Boule' members, the wealth they stole from Afrika. What's deep is they didn't believe in Afrikan self-reliance and preferred YT to give them table scraps instead of us making the whole pie!

Peace Goddess' and Godz!! As we continue this class, "Lyrical Head Castration 101", I would like to, first, go over a few things from last month's dope piece to refresh your pineal glandz. This is truly a time to rejoice because the truth is sprouting up like a plant through the cracks of a concrete sidewalk. For too long these secrets have been buried and now, by the forces of Nature, we see rebirth in this concrete jungle!
Last month, we laid the foundation of this wicked "white-with-black-faced" secret society called the Boule' or Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc. For those who either forgot or didn't peep last month's piece, we unleashed our liquid sword and beheaded the beast of secrets and found that this organization was started by dr. henry minton of Philadelphia, (where he also founded the first chapter) founded May 15, 1904. We also know that, by reading the history book of the Boule', written by charles h. wesley -- who also wrote the history books of alpha phi alpha, prince hall masons, the elks and founded Central State University in Ohio -- on page 28, we find that minton wanted to make this organization just like Skull and Bones, a white supremist organization founded at Yale University in 1778. We also found the premises for this wicked group was to steal the black professional from the ranks of Marcus Garvey, which, at that time was reaching over 1 million plus Afrikans in america without tv or radio. We also realized that right after the Boule' was founded, the 4 black frats and 4 black sororities were founded, as well as the NAACP and Urban League. And we also found they have a close relation with masonry.
This month, our next incision will go a level deeper. We will perform open heart surgery and split open the aorta of black greeks; we will define the meaning of the Boule's logo -- the Sphinx; their colors; and more of their connection with masonry.
Let’s start with their logo. In the background, you will notice their logo. Most will say it is a sphinx. True, but not truth. Most will associate the sphinx with the tall, solid block statue our ancestors built in ancient KMT. Because we have been conditioned to "accept without question", we never thought of looking up what sphinx means. Look in any dictionary and it will tell you that a sphinx is half woman-half lion with breasts and wings. So when I think of the tall statue in KMT, does it look like a woman?? Where are the breasts?! What about the wings?! The original, Afrikan name is Her-Em-Akhet, which means Heru of the horizon and has the face of the builder, Khafre. When we look up the definition of sphinx, it means "to strangle, guard; gatekeeper or protect". This has nothing to do with KMT or Afrikan people.
The sphinx is a grecian myth and is a major part of masonry. We will see why the black frat, alpha phi alpha, the frat I was down with, but now am no longer a member, adopted the sphinx and not Her-Em-Akhet, read on son. The history of the sphinx is wack (all greek myths is full of shit!)! According to the greeks, this beast was a guardian of the city of thebes. She sat on a cliff on the only path leading to the city. Anyone that wanted to enter thebes had to first confront the sphinx. The sphinx would ask one simple riddle and if you didn't know the answer, she would devour you, tearing you to pieces. The king, creon, was upset that many people were unable to enter his city. He consulted some faggot named oedipus. The king offered his crown and his daughter if he could kill the sphinx. So he bounced to where she was and she asked him the riddle, "What has one voice, and goes on four feet on two feet and on three, but the more feet it goes on the weaker it be?" oedipus responded, "Man -- who crawls on all fours as a baby, then walks on two as an adult, and walks with a cane in old age." After answering the riddle correctly, the sphinx committed suicide, jumping off the cliff and oedipus was claimed king of thebes for outsmarting the beast.
Where do you see an Afrikan presence in this? NOWHERE. Remember, greek mythology is based on myths!! It doesn't necessarily mean their stories really happened. All pale-faced people came from the caucus mountains and their knowledge base is based upon what abraham and moses gave them (33 1/3rd degree of knowledge), therefore, they are incapable of being master’s of origination. They are, however, the masters of plagiarism. They could never understand what Her-Em-Akhet means. The statue faced the east because our ancestors knew the pineal gland is the seat of the Afrikan soul and when the sun rises in the east, it hits the forehead (pineal gland), suppressing the beastly nature of man. As Tony Browder puts it, "Symbolically, the body represents the animal nature which exists in wo/man, and the lion exemplifies the royalty and power of the divine spirit that exists in its lower physical form. The head of a man symbolizes the intelligence of the mind which must be cultivated in order to elevate the consciousness into a higher spiritual state so that it may become divine. Metaphorically speaking, it is the suppression of the lower animal nature and the refinement of the thought process that leads to the spiritual evolution of man. Spiritually speaking, it is only by conquering the "beast" within that one is capable of truly knowing God." It makes sense why the first black college fraternity, I used to belong to, would chose to call it the sphinx and not Her-Em-Akhet; because their knowledge base is greek oriented and not Afrikan!
The caucasian (including these people who think they’re jews) is incapable of an understanding this deep because of their calcified brain, lack of melanin, and long, stringy, lifeless hair (antennas to ancestral realm for Afrikans). WHAT DOES THE LOGO MEAN?
As stated before, Boule' means "advisor to the king", and we clarified last month that the king is headed by the Rockefeller, Rothschild, and Rhodes Foundation. If we were to bring some numerology into this, the sphinx's number is 9. The riddle was what walks on 4, 2, then 3. That equals 9. 4 symbolized the ignorant man (baby); 2, the intellectual (young adult); and 3, the spiritual (old man with cane, which means wisdom). The masonic definition of the number 9 is the natural number of man AND the lower worlds (or evil)!
Looking at the logo, you will notice under the sphinx between the greek letters, there are 2 sets of 3x3 squares. Brutha Steve Cokely pointed out, after attending a Boule' national conference a couple years ago, that each square represented each of the 4 black frats and 4 black sororities. The final square belongs to the one the started it all, the Boule'! Understand, this ain't something I & I thought up to amuse you. We went to the lion's den to find out what this beast is all about. None of this is secondhand info! So don't trip!! Remember what I just told you about 9 being their number?! I know I don’t have to think for you, weigh it yourself!
You will also notice the sphinx with his right (correct; like what he’s doing is right) paw covering an earn (vase). Inside the earn we see a circle within a circle with a dot in the middle. This has two meanings. First, the circle within a circle is the symbol of the Rockefeller/Rothschild Foundation (Society; New World Order). So what the sphinx is doing is what it's definition is, "protect, guard; gatekeeper". It is protecting the interests of the white supremacy! The second meaning is the circle within the circle has a dot in the middle. The circle, including the dot is the symbol of Ra. Our ancient Sun God, or Heru of the original trinity, Ausar, Auset, and Heru. The outer circle is like an enclosed layer, closing off the power of Ra, along with the paw to further conceal the truth of our ancient history the beast knows is very vital to our upliftment! Afrikans, we need to get into symbolism. There are many symbols out here that have racist definitions. Remember the saying, "A picture speaks a thousand words?" This is a code of communication we originated on the walls and temples back in KMT (Metu Neter or as the greeks call it, hieroglyphics).

I searched around the house and only found a few of the books and literature I received at these boule conventions I attended over a year ago, but I know of a few people who made it past the intake process where I got screened out for being an 'uppity negro'. I am gonna get a hold of them and send them to you, as something tells me that you think I am taking this whole thing too far. If you only knew....
Well let me say this, the boule` organization that I was affiliated with makes all of your greek stuff look very minimal, and I do mean that. The intake process lasts over a year, and I'm not sure how long the greek organizations is but these people do some DEEP screening of your character to see if you are obedient or what not. I suppose this is why they gave me the boot. I had made it about seven months and made it through interview after interview and test after test. We even did some of the "group things" that I'm sure you many of the frats/sorors are doing now as sort of a test wherein your own peers are testing you.
Let me break this down to you (and I will name names).There is a nationwide clique of recruiters for Fortune 500 corporations that specifically target our "talented tenth". The basic requirements are that you are either Black , Chicano, or Native American... and they start tracking your GPA back in high school. If you are one of the few who have over a 3.0 GPA and 1000+ on the SAT, they will send a "representative" to take you off to the side and speak with you if they feel you have the future potential of taking them out of power, which was done in my case. Only the so-called "gifted" were chosen,as I had a few brothas & sistas I knew with 4.0 GPAs who were not selected. But like I said, you are hand-chosen. After this,you write an essay similar to something for a scholarship, with the topic being something like "what will you do with your college degree and will you help your community etc.." so this is just a basic test to see if the people are "real". After this if you are okay, they invite you to a conference (initiation) to set up an interview. In interviews,they (white folks) ask you silly ass questions like... "so tell me about the getto" ; and stuff like that. They try to extract as much info from you as they can to see what kind of potential you have. So then I get through the interview phase. By this point well over 70% of all of the people it started with have been cut. It started off with 5000 people for all of Cali, and at this time I was down to about a good 200 people or so of which I was in.
Before I go further on this let me give you a brief history of this organization and what they are about. They come claiming that they are thereto "give talented minorities corporate employment", but what its really about is keeping the talented 10% working for the betterment of "them " than rebuilding their own communities. They take our best Black minds and put them to work in corporations they own.This program is financed by all major Fortune 500 corporations,and includes over 900 corporations nationwide. I have a list they gave me and I will show you what i mean. They entice you by offering summer internships at these corporations making over $20 an hour, so this little up front "Puppet money" attracted me and everyone else into wanting to join. Hell, when I was in high school I was always broke and poor...sometimes i didn't even have money for lunch or even for a bus ride home,so this $20 an hour was very enticing to me.
Okay back to what I am saying... you're past the interviews and the groups tests.. there is one final group test where they split you all apart from your friends with total strangers and ask you to draw a picture about what you plan to do with your future so that your group memebers can criti que you. Well, I had drawn a picture of myself surrounded with all of the office buildings and business facilities I intend to own and operate, and strangely enough the group had condemned these dreams and aspirations I had and everyone had kept saying &q uot;focus on one job".They try to crush your imaginative thoughts early on in this organization,and later on (upon leaving) I was told by a few fellow members who had made it past that stage that they were told to do these things. Nothing is coincidence in these secretive societies... its is all carefully planned.
After this stage, you are offered a chance to participate in the "talent pool" as they had called it. The only requirements is that all Black people had to wear corporate attire (suit, tie, dress, etc) but the only twist is that Black women were REQUIRED to perm/relax their hair. No natural hair styles such as braids/dreads/afros were acceptable. With the large natural that I have, I really did not care as I was not about to conform for these people. At this point I really didn't care because I knew I was "out of it" after this meeting anyway. But this whole "talent pool" was nothing but a modern day slave auction... straight up. We had ALL the fortune 500 recruiters under one roof and everyone was boot lickin and butt kissin like crazy to submit their resumes to these demons? They had really been convinced that "INROADS" was the only way to make it. Indoctrinated to believe that corporate amerika was the only way to have viable employment.So what if their people are suffering, they are "getting theirs".
And you know the funniest thing about this whole organization?If a corporation decides to lay off an INROADS (talented minority) worker,they are GUARANTEED a job making the same amount or more the very next day! The talented tenth are being taken care of by ol' massa very good. I hope that I am able to dig up some more documents from my boule conventions I attended, and I will notify you all when I get the time to look.
This was taken directly from the Boule` mission statement, of which I have an authentic copy. It states:

More than two dozen are corporate vice presidents, many are assistant vice presidents, others hold senior financial positions in city government, and several are successful entrepreneurs. Hundreds are at middle and upper management levels in engineering, retailing, banking, accounting, manufacturing and telecommunications."
This organization has a website, and believe me there is A LOT more to it than meets the eye.

I acknowledge that:
i. white people dominate the world,
ii. white people in positions of power operate in a racist way,
iii. white people in power use different means overtly and covertly to maintain domination over black people,
iv. it is common for white people to actively support or submit to this racism,
v. many black people feel they must also submit to this, while a few actively support it,
vi. the majority of black people suffered greatly because of this;
vii. I don't like it.
