The end of a sentence for me at CDG.

Sleeper | 14.02.2008 22:25 | Repression | Workers' Movements

this is a log of what happened at CDG for me

I started CDG 13 weeks ago, this was my 2nd time here and what happened the first time I didn't really have hight hopes for this place, I was told by the job centre that all the people have changed so I went OK I will see if they well help this time around.

1st week there was hell nothing changed in fact it was worse now, I was told to go strait to the ELO and give him all the details of the placement I sorted my self, so that's what I did, and I will quote what he said to me “F**K OFF! I am busy” OK I did find out that was his last day. There was also one of the tutors there that seemed hell bent on just making my stay there hell, it seemed like every thing I did he had to look over it, check it, he even had a go at me for having a MSN conversation on my laptop even thou I was even on the internet, I do use my laptop at home where I do have the internet.

Another thing happened with this tutor is me and 4 others where talking about jobs in a room and he just came in and had a good at us for talking, he didn't ask what we where talking about nor did he listen to what we where saying, he all so became the ELO for a few weeks, I gave him the take to sort out my placement, well he messed that up as the potential employer wasn't too happy by the way he spoke to him, all this happened in the 1st 2 weeks there but I have to say that this tutor has changed a lot in my mine, he don't make my day to day life there hell instead the manager does.

The manager (peacock) she just seem to strut around like she is better than all of us, I could have a job now if they helped with my driving lessons but no, she and the new ELO would rather put people on stupid courses that have no job at the end and give them a grunt of doing it, I know I cant be the only one that this has affected, ELO must be lazy as she asked me if I would phone some one as they should have been on a training course, and she had to ask twice too, I don't see why I should wast my money phoning people that she should do her self.

Both the ELO and the peacock don't seem to be interested in any training for me or even putting me on placement, it has been 13 weeks and nothing, complete wast of time for me, but other people have had better experiences there but not that much better.

They has all ways been a problem with the computers, they have all ways got viruses on them and only 10 some time 9 computers to 40+ people and that still not counting basic skills and gateway to work, so you could add another 10 to 20 on that, so it like a fight to get on a computer there that's if you don't get kicked off by basic skills or gateway, who seem to have right of way. I have a laptop I could of used but wasn't aloud, but some guy in gateway was aloud his and he was aloud to use CDGs wireless network as well, the reason, they didn't have another computers so he was aloud to use his laptop, so I tried and was told “no”, why was he the only one with a laptop that was aloud to bring it in and use CDGs internet when there was others with laptops that want even aloud to bring them in let alone use the internet there? I have never found out why, and all I get from the peacock was “there isn't enough computers so I let him use his laptop instead”.

To sum up, the two tutors I have had contact with are really nice and will try and help you but the ELO and peacock and just not helpful at all. I do believe if you replace the peacock with some one that cares about getting people in to work instead behaving like all we are is just £ signs walking around then this place could be helpful to people.

Things are moving in the direction, the 2nd to last week they changed how they are going to do the classes in a good way, we get to choose what we want to do, with in reason, they are even doing computer course on Monday, but from what I have been told they aren't that good.

Well there has been a lot of bulling going on at CDG, not much from the staff as other people have said but from the people that go there, there is one inperticuler that picks on and little thing even if the person cant help like a disability and he will not shut up about it, going on and on, do CDG do any thing, nope, they don't care.

I haven't done this to get at CDG but to give CDG and any one that reads this an insight in to what its like there, this is just one person but there are many people that have the same view as me. This is a wake up call to CDG, fix these problems before its to late.

There is one this that did pee me off, I had a theory test coming up and wasn't even aloud to revise of it, this is of help to getting work as I have a job but just need to be able to drive, I wasn't even aloud the time off to go to this test, lucky I got one that was after CDG, I didn't pass. I did tell the peacock, but she didnt seem to care at all.

This bit at the end is a diary of the last few days of CDG.

Day 1:
I wasn't there

Day 2:
9:30 I just got in to CDG and the ELO jumps me, and asks to phone some one she should of phoned her self.

10:30 I am on the computers, I look around there is loads of people wanting to use a PC and most people that are using a PC are NOT job searching, they are on FaceBook and posting blogs, cant they do this at lunch or some thing. There is even people using CDGs phone for person calls, a gen there is 1 person waiting to use it. I was all so handed a new (its in testing right now) time sheet.

11:43 I am now sitting in the end room doing nothing as I have just been kicked off for not doing “job search” lmao there is still people on FaceBook and what looks like the cancel are walking around taking pitchers.

12:30 lunch and we get to go home, don't know why, but they where short staffed.

Day 3:
nothing really happened, people on the PCs still looking at FaceBook and posting on Blogs.

Day 4:
I wasn't there so cant say much

Day 5:
this is my last day.
