Anti-racists, refugees and supporters assembled in Piccadilly Gardens to march to the BBC who censor the racist treatment and brutal human rights abuses of migrants and refugees.
The march had the following demands:
* No to deportations!
* Stop starving asylum seekers!
* No immigration controls!
* For the right to work
* No to destitution!
Mohammad Hussain from Iraq died last Sunday 3rd August. He had stomach cancer that went undetected and untreated while he was detained in Lindholme IRC. He was given a flight to Iraqi Kurdistan in May this year but the deportation was stopped and Mohammed was released, thanks to a good solicitor and to the South Yourkshire Migration and Asylum Action Group (SYMAAG).
Mohammed was a dedicated activist for asylum rights and helped and inspired many other people until the very end.
There was a very well attended funeral service for Mohammad in Doncaster on Tuesday 5th August and Northern Refugee Centre will be organising a tribute to Mohammad’s life soon.
The International Federation of Iraqi Refugees are making a collection to send the body home.
