Very Urgent - Possible Charter Flight to Kurdistan/imminent
Four of the Iraqi/Kurds who were on hunger strike at Campsfield have been moved to Colnbrook. One of those being moved is Fazzel Ahmed leader of the recent hunger strike at Campsfield, said that they have all been given open ended removal directions,

"flight to take place between 72 hours and 20 days from the date of notice". Iraqi/Kurds in other removal centres have received the same notice. However Fazzel is unable to give whereabouts of other detainees as security @ Campsfield had confiscated his and the other threes mobile phones, which have the contact details. If anyone on list is in contact with any Iraqi/Kurds in other detention centres, can you please contact them and ask if they have been given removal directions and if so have they been given a time and date. Any information gathered email  JohnO@ncadc.org.uk

Arash (Abuoali) Mohajernejad back in the Community
At last, common sense has prevailed and Arash was released, without bail, from the detention centre this evening Wednesday 3rd September, pending his appeal hearing for asylum. I want all those who helped, to rejoice at the news of Arash's release from the detention centre but at the same time lets not get complacent until all is resolved. Arash asked me to thank all those who helped publicise his plight and hopes to thank you all in person soon. He also asked me to write on his behalf that 'Our friendships should be stronger than our political inclinations'. Azarmehr for the Campaign

Petition to the South African Government to Appeal for the Protection of Refugees in South Africa following the Xenophobic Attacks in May, 2008.

I have attached a petition that I am circulating to appeal to the government of South Africa to protect people displaced in the May attacks. Displaced people in the camps there have approved the statement. Congolese groups in the UK and The Zimbabwean newspaper are going to publicise it.

Meanwhile the eMzantsi Ubuntu Coalition has updates on conditions in the camps around Cape Town:  http://emuc.ilocals.info/

Thanks, Megan Redmond

European Parliament condemns, Hangings in Iran
Parliament returns once again to the high level of executions in Iran, especially of juveniles, and urges the authorities to change their policy and legislation on this matter.

The resolution, which notes that notes that 29 simultaneous executions took place in Evin prison in Tehran on 27 July 2008, "strongly condemns the growing number of executions, and urges the Iranian authorities to establish a moratorium on the death sentence with a view to abolishing the death penalty in accordance with the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 18 December 2007".

East Congo risks plunging back into war - U.N.
- Congo's eastern borderlands risk plunging back into all-out war between the army and Tutsi rebels after the heaviest clashes in months, the U.N. peacekeeping mission chief said. The enemies fought heavy battles last week in North Kivu province, where violence fuelled by simmering ethnic tensions has raged despite the official end of Congo's broader 1998-2003 war, a regional free-for-all over the country's mineral wealth. Last week's fighting was among the worst since President Joseph Kabila's government signed a ceasefire deal with renegade Tutsi General Laurent Nkunda's rebels and around a dozen other armed militias in January.
