All IMC-UK and world members SWP infiltrator sim1 is censoring without reason

whycensorwithoutreason | 08.10.2008 16:21 | South Coast | World

Indymedia has clear editorial guidelines and you can only hide a post under such circumstances, please can readers read the post under the following url and say which guidelines have been breached by the post exposing the hypocrisy of George Galloway and the SWP who are responsible for continuing the Labour oppression in the East End which they see as ripe for exploitation. here is the url  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/10/410207.html
this time, the infiltrator gives no reason contrary to imc post guidelines. this person keeps trying to hide the posts since who is sim1 and what is imcuk editorial policy being used to hide ok posts?

Don't be an arse

It's clear that the moderation email list is the place for questions about moderation decisions. Posts like this just clutter up the newswire, make more work for editors and make it less likely that you'll get a positive response to your query.

It's the way of the world

Indymedia UK censorship is a fact of life I'm afraid. The Editorial Guidelines are usually applied fairly in cut and dried obvious cases but if you start to publish and comment about issues where the small editorial group is involved then you will get censored and in some cases banned.

There used to be a group that had something to do with Bristol university and Bristol Indymedia that had a website that listed all the hidden and deleted stuff as well as the edits that are carried out by the moderators but that closed a year or so back.

Most of the time you just have to live with it.

i am happy with censorship according to the guidelines but this is not..

08.10.2008 17:14

i am really concerned as this person has censored on a whim, why do you think that is? This is what makes me think that they are a swp and george galloway sympathiser... do not like the scrutiny ... good to know this is the way imc-uk is going though

whycensorwithoutreason

asking why a post not breaching guideline is hidden is not arsy - it is vital

08.10.2008 17:19

why should a post that is not "lazy" according to sim 1 who does not say how a post that is accurately sourced can be "lazy" given that it highlights hypocrisy according to the source the person is aiming to contribute to.

Furthermore, the post is not discriminatory or inaccurate in any way. Importantly, the issue raised is reflective of people's concerns and yet it is being censored arbitrarily. if this is what imc-uk is doing now, this debate should be on the website for all readers...

Missing the point

08.10.2008 17:42

You realise that the linked article says essentially nothing? It's about 3 lines making an allegation unsupported by anything in the post. I'd be in favour of hiding it even if it weren't a complaint about moderation that has no place in the newswire anyway.

CH

no allegations but supported sourced referring to galloway is your objection

08.10.2008 19:13

you still provide no reason for hiding the article, what are the allegations you refer to. I accused George Galloway of hyprocrisy and the information supporting this allegation is provided with sources.

So exactly what allegation do you refer to and again what is the reason for hiding the post as it seems you have the same philosophy as Sim1 perhaps you are one of the same but i will rely on the honesty of old IMC-UKers who were not linked to the likes of SWP and george galloway ... i ask again who is sim1?

Non news

08.10.2008 21:29

is the guideline under which the comment was hidden - as reported here:

 http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-moderation/2008-October/1008-oi.html

Sim1 is a commentator not a moderator and had nothing to do with the post being hidden. The post had no content and the fact that politicians are sleazebags is hardly news. Find yourself a bulletin board to have your rants on.

As to spamming the newswire with your complaints about moderation, perhaps you should read the guidelines you claim not to have breached and see that you have in fact breached them. There is a publicly archived list to take your moderation queries to.
