many fireworks set-off though

On the upside, despite a huge police operation with unmarked cars, TSG and undercover dogs (!), people did manage to have quite a good display, but no fire.

Police threatened to arrest for littering if people brought logs into the park, and criminal damage if they used wood already there.

On the upside?! What about the downside. probably more than a hundred of us there but when the pigs try and arrest someone only a handfull run forward to help dearrest. what happened the 'class war' then? or does it only extend to burning effigies of your class enemies jesus and mohammed?

That's bullshit. The police had to retreat, regroup and call for reinforcements because practically the whole crowd joined in to dearrest people.

Next time bring weapons?

We at London Class War regret the disruption of last week's bonfire by a violent mindless minority bent on violence. Already the police seem to be deploying their propaganda specialists, as illustrated by the comment about bringing weapons next time round above.

We are reviewing the events of last Wednesday, with an eye to ensuring they're not repeated next year. This year the police put together an operation which we did not anticipate. Next year we'll not be caught napping. One thing we do not need, though, and that is twats putting up calls for people to turn up with weapons next year. There's no need to play into the filth hands by coming along with weapons, when that's more likely to lead to a nicking than a victory. We've a number of ideas we're considering, which will allow the bonfire to go ahead very nicely without stupid arrests.
