Just before everybody gets too excited some background on Muntather Al Zaidi might be of interest.

He is the son of Akram Al Zaidi former chief of police in Anran province under Saddam Hussain, sacked after the US invasion

He was accepted into the B'ath party as a local organiser before the US invasion - a position he lost.

His sister worked as a translator at B'ath party headquarters in Bagdhad before the US invasion. She is now unemployed

This was no great heroic act on behalf of the Iraqi people rather the frustration of a man whose family proposered under Saddams regime and who has now got to live like other Iraqis without the patronage of a dictator.

All of the above is being reported on Iraqi and even Iranian newssites and TV.
