Hamas are entitled to fight back against Israeli oppression. You say that Hamas fires rockets from civilian areas, but come on, Gaza is the most densly populated area on earth, everywhere in Gaza is populated, there are no other areas to retaliate other than those where people may be unlike Israel which has the space (illegally taken) to launch their murderous actions.

As of the 14th of January the Israeli state had killed over 1,000 people in Gaza. 13 Israelis are dead. That's a ratio of 1:76; which is nothing short of obscenity. Hamas should stop firing rockets at civilians - agreed. (altho note that their rockets pirmarilly just destroy property not life).
are they to blame ? no.
The state of israel must shoulder more of the blame for the following reasons:
(A)
the terms of the cease fire were broken by israel
first when they did not ease the blockade of gaza, and then again when the killed a hamas militant inside gaza, prompting the retalitory attacks.
(B)
The assault has been planned since atleast the start of the cease fire indicating that at least some of the current administration is israel were looking for an excuse to start the assualt.
(C)
hamas officials advised they would agree to a cease fire if israel removed its blockade/wall and returned to its 1967 borders.
israel says it will not negotiate with hamas. israel has also stated it seeks to target and destory hamas and its ability and or will to fight, contrary to their founding charter hamas has stated it will recognise israels rigth to exist.
(D)
israel funded hamas decades ago and supported its rise as a way to distrubt fatah.
(E)
Israel has killed in just the current assualt 1000 people, including atleast 250 children, it has injured 1000s more and restricted access of the whole poluation to food, medical supplies, water and electricity.
atlast reports, in the same time frame hamas has killed aprox 4 civilians and less than a dozen members of the IDF, scale is not the same as intent but it should have some weight in an argument none the less.
(F)
Israel has admited to DELIBRETLY targeting hamas facilities including universities and police stations - this constitutes a war crime.
They have also (altho they have not admited doing so delibretly) attacked a UN school, memers of the un relief agency (both in their offices and in transport), ambulances, hospitals, civilians with white flags (at close range).
(G)
as the one with the economic political and military might if israel wanted peace it should take some steps to ensure it rather than respond in such a calous way with steps than can litterally be defined as genoiced.
in the past hamas has actually taken more steps toward peace unilateally than isreal, eg; stopping all suicide attacks and preventing any others from carying them out, continuing a cease fire dispite the blockade the cease fire was supposed to prevent.

I can search the internet for the source of the above if you wish, but all are available from the BBC or from indymedia posts regarding the issue made in the past 2 weeks.

The death of so many children through Hamas's cynical policy (i.e war crime) of using civilians as human shields and firing missiles from crowded residential areas is of course a tragedy. However, Al Jazeera has let the cat out of the Hamas propaganda bag. Even a cursory analysis of these names, genders and ages reveals a) very large majority of males b) the age of the victims is heavily skewed towards the late teens c) many of the "children" are young adults. This last point is not designed to belittle their deaths but to deflate the grotesque Hamas propaganda balloon. What all three points above clearly reveal is that many of these deaths are in fact young combatants, child soldiers or hangers-on. They may have been roped in for combat, have been carrying explosives or just messages; they may have come along for the ride with their elder brothers or cousins; they may simply have been used purely as human shields against the IDF. In each case, we are talking Hamas war crimes.

For you claims to be true you'd have to assume that these names weren't obtained from hospital and listed as civilian casualties.

Hospitals have been reporting very few combatants being brought to them. So, I doubt that many of the 36 names, if any at all account for combatants.

Gaza is possibly the most densely popullated area in the world. So, I don't know where you are getting your 'human shield' crap from but I do know there is no way you can hit Gaza with bombs, rockets, artillery or mortars without committing war crimes. And for your information, even if someone were to use a human shield (and I have seen no evidence yet) itis still a war crime to hit the target!

Just remember when you go to sleep tonight that you support murdering children.

Statistics --- the numbers are large enough so if the result of random Israeli attacks you would expect a much more even sex distirbution and much more uniform age distribution.

HOWEVER -- also not the evidence to explicitly blame Hamas for using teens as fighters or human shields. Maybe, but maybe just the normal tendency of boys that age to prove that they are men. Not being ORDERED to do things like run out there and try to drag back a rocket launcher or mortar tube abandoned by its crew as Israeli return fire arrives but daring each other. Kids that age think they are immortal.

There will be some racists who take direct action against Israeli linked companies, and there will be some dirty tricks.

But direct action against local targets linked to this massacre have to be carried out, it is a legal and moral duty on all of us, whatever faith or belief, regardless of the sentiments of racists.

I think it is demonstrably less racist to write 'Kill All Jews' or whatver graffitti was alleged than to actually herd a population into a camp and then bomb it. The intent may be the same but the effect is different.

No one here is saying kill all Jews. As far as I am aware I am the only person here calling for the end of the Israeli state by whatever means - and it took me a lifetime to reach that conclusion today.

At the very least the current Israeli government, and the soldiers who particpated in massacres, should be tried for their lives or assasinated - at the very least.

I agree on every point, but stop short of 'whatever means', but I see a big difference in how I see things from the safety of Britain and can barely imagine what it must be like to be living in the Warsaw Ghetto Mark II.

I won't condone 'any means', but I don't speak for anyone who is being pounded and starved daily by the IDF, or who has had to pluck bits of their family from rubble. I don't wish anyone dead; quite the opposite, but as stated I'm not in a desperate position.

When you make sure only one side has technical superiority to the other then you can bet on the disadvantaged side using every desperate means possible for survival.

I am furious but my fury makes me useless.

I am going to act from now on against any local target that supports Israel whether or not the current slaughter stops. I am going to act as calmly and intelligently as I can because I know that is the most effective way to act. Still, I pity the next person who is introduced to me as a supporter or participant in this slow genocide. I will be attending the next pro-Israel rally in the UK and I will not be leaving there.

Tactics... Well it is good to see that there is substantial public support for Gaza , even on a bollock freezing day in Marble Arch, despite all the BBC propaganda.

The mainstream media is having a hard job keeping the Hamas spin going, but at the end of the day what difference does it make anyway.

It is depressing as usual that it doesn't translate into much more than a usual march and bit of a pointless ruck with the plod (just as the Met intended)...

It always strikes me that the single-interest stuff like anti-militarism has more momentum in teh UK and the Palestine thing gets overlooked constantly. But anyway...

All power to those who can afford to carry out direct action!

I am currently wearing a home-made Leonard Cohen Tshirt. My favourite comdedian is currently Sarah Silverman, although I still like Woody Allens work. I have read the Jewish scriptures and considered going to an Israel Kibbutz when my friends went as teenagers. Unlike most people posting here, I have lost a friend to a Palestinian suicide bomber.

Yet now I oppose the state of Israel and call for it to be abolished because I've been paying attention to events there. Israel has become a Nazi state as surely as Hitlers state was. Same tactics, same lies. The term anti-semitic referring to Jews only is a Nazi term so you call me that if you want, you use any Nazi terminology you want to describe me. If someone starts trying to 'kill all Jews' it'll be folk like me stopping them, but destroying the businesses which support this slaughter, that is a good and just act.

Yeah, sorry to Impressed for picking you up wrong, I'm not at my best conversationally. Phrases like "Unidentified Boy 9" are like white phosphorus for the soul. When I have slept I dream I'm back in school, or back in hospital, except there are missile strikes and panic and dead children. I'm better awake and underslept and irritable. I have no idea how the activists who write from Gaza manage to include something positive or hopeful each time. I guess when you are facing death then life seems even more valuable. I can't promise to be very sociable either as I don't think I will sleep soundly until I am in a cell.

I am not ashamed to say that list has literally brought me to tears several times. And I am a grown man who has seen some hardcore shit, had some of it done to me, done my fair share of shit I have regretted too. And to be honest if if were a list of dead Idraeli children I'd cry too... if it were Tony Blair's brats I'd feel bad too. It just children! It's truly monsterous to harm children, but...

It's beyond humanity to murder them, it is beyond classification to kill children and then JUSTIFY it! I think it would qualify as psychopathy.

But for sure we shouldn't be attacking each other right now. It's the hierarchical way of immobilising us: divide & rule.
