i thought i has sussed how to resize, not ooopps sos

(1) IMCistas: can't you set images to scale automatically? This is a common problem on IMCUK.

(2) This action is cool. I had the idea a while back of scanning a barcode for some cheap, ethical item, making stickers out of it, and then applying those stickers over the barcodes of Israeli items sold in supermarkets. Then the supermarkets start losing money for every Israeli item that's sold; bingo!

But the free lance massive objected.

Can't think why.

Is there a 1/2 decent list of Israeli goods.

Do please read and follow before upping your next batch of pics which we look forward to. It's good to know some are doing and reporting useful actions on the street.

It has to be said that some of your pics are also really blurred. I suggest that when taking pics of closeup stuff like nearer than a metre, you set your camera to macro setting - normally indicated by a flower shaped icon. Experiment at home so you know what distance it can focus on with and without macro.

Or it may be that your camera is getting confused about what you want it to focus on. For most cameras there are different settings that will either force it to focus on the nearest object anywhere in the frame, or it will focus on whatever is right in the centre of the frame,. or it may focus on the centre half or so area of the frame. Experiment at home so you know how your's behaves and look for settings under Auto Focussing.

Or it may be that you're shaking the camera - maybe worried about being nabbed by a security guard? Hold your elbows close into your body if they wobble to much.

Actually, concentrate on that last paragraph as since writing the above, I've just had a peek at your camera settings that are embedded in each picture and all the ones that are sharp were taken at a fast shutter speed of 1/60'th second or faster and the really blurred ones are a whopping 1/6'th sec which is near impossible to hand hold. Only chance you have of taking sharp pics if your camera decides that's the shutter speed to use in that situation is either to get some more light on the subject or rest your hand or the camera itself against something rigid like a pillar or display stand or whatever. I'm guessing the first two blurred pics of your leaflets alone were taken at home which is worse lit than the shop so just rig up some strong lighting or do the photo outside to make those ones sharp.

i downloaded the programe of indy, not sure what i did wrong, will look closer tomorrow.
hopefully i can sort it out, bad pics for the world but worse for me, shame on me.

There's quite a bit to learn with dig photos and it's inevitable things won't always go right initially. Do play around with that Photofiltre program which I think is very good for a freebie and report back here if you're still having probs. I've just fired it up here so I know what I'm writing about. You have to click Image, then Image Size, then overwrite the larger value of either the horiz or vert boxes with 500 pixels or thereabouts then click OK. You then must remember to Save As the file and give it a meaningful name so as not to overwrite the original large file. Just remember then to upload your named file rather than the original numerically named one that your camera produced.

The site is indeed a bit primitive in that it can't auto resize pics itself. The ref to freelancers complaining about auto resizing is not entirely true as far as I remember. There was a significant change made to photos a few years back such that only barely discernible thumbnails of uploaded pics were displayed in each article and you had to do a frenzy of clicking to actually see what each pic really looked like, have a look at it full size, go back, repeat for next. Drove you mad for any article with more than 1 pic and I don't think it actually resized monster pics even then. Another developer (Yossarian) has since done auto resize but initially lacked a test server on which to try out his work cos it would be very scary to change every pic on the live site and then find afterwards that something had gone terribly wrong. He has since created the new London site from scratch which has auto resize built in but don't know if his change will now adapt into this UK site
