Considering recent events, this is an inevitable and sensible action. IMHO long overdue.

SHAC have their own website - why not use that?

Because they have every right to use a website whose mission statement is this:

SHACwatch however has no such right as it stands for repression and gloats over the victimisation of activists by the state.

Well if this post about SHAC being hidden is correct what next? If for example posts concerning climate change demos attract police attention and oppression (which is MORE likely if a stand is not made), should people stop all climate change posts? If this was to continue there would be no more Indymedia as we know it, just a neutered, defanged, sanitised site which no grass roots activist would be able to use.
Presumably it is inevitable and sensible just not to bother with demonstrations and nonviolent direct action?

So I guess someone from SHAC has made contact with the London Indymedia and is working with them to verify posts? If not I guess it's all pissing in the wind.
