What provocateurs look like.

betty blue 2009 | 30.03.2009 13:51 | G20 London Summit

This is just one example of provocateurs at work, it happens to beb in Canada but you know it's going to be exactly the same over here. There is no doubt that this is what will be happening in the City on Wednesday, the papers have pretty much made it obvious that it's the plan, so please be aware.

The elderly man who had the balls to expose these sad soulless bastards is a genuine hero.

YOU can be doing the same on Wednesday 1st April, 2nd April and in fact - let's face it pop pickers - over the next two or three years...

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhGRQ6a0qd8&feature=related

All power to those who are fighting for the change we need, through mass civil disobedience, direct action and non-violent resistance to a dying useless male-led crap system that let's pointless, characterless, sexless, unjoyous, non-creative white male losers have swimming pools in their toilets and champagne coming out of their arse while the rest of the world struggles to feed their children.

ALL OF THEM MUST GO!

And by the way... If you thought there were only 35,000 on Saturday, the 'safe' march, watch this:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9j5ZchuUUg&feature=response_watch

All done by staggering the march so that there are up to an hour gaps in between people. New police tactics?

I love my scrappy and dave travolta and all of you who are coming on Wednesday and Thursday xx

Rubbish

30.03.2009 14:31

If anything posts like this are more likely to be planted to try and discredit people trying to bring about legitimate social change through direct action.

@

It's not rubbish.

30.03.2009 14:56

It's not rubbish it is true. Effective direct action does not mean rioting at G20 or other marches. It is done cleverly in a way that genuinely disrupts the system machinery, monkey wrench gang style, in secret.

Agent Provocatuers will always be on marches and demos. It is THEY who discredit movements.

Check out people in hideous get ups who will join your movement then shout "lets bomb them / kill their children" etc on your demos. Yes, THEM.

Direct Activist

hmm

30.03.2009 15:16

The post suggests you can recognise agent provocateurs by "What they look like". I know allot of people that might dress in the style shown in the videos simply to obscure their identity with no aim to even break the law.

That fact is riots can also bring about change. This is historically proven. I agree that some people may wish to cause trouble for the sake of it but in my experience most genuinely want to see social change. Whether you agree with there tactics or not calling them agent provocateurs discredits not only them but the whole movement. It makes us look week.

If police want to use violence they will use violence, agent provocateur or not.

Mostly I would suggest that they would choose not to. The status quo does a good enough job keeping everything and everyone in its place.

in this case

30.03.2009 16:36

Well it isn't as simple as cops want violence so violence against the cops is actually playing their game. Obviously the cops often attack crowds without provocation, so defending against this attack using force is totally different. But in this case - based on their behaviour and clothing (same neck scarves, same boots, nervously edging towards police lines to get a fake arrest) seem to confirm the police wanted to attack the trade unionists too.

These cops tactics are plausible

30.03.2009 18:42

Some police commanders and security services managers are like their charges - they are authoritarian types. They see the order part of 'law and order' as giving them the responsibility for quashing social movements that threaten the status quo (what they interpret to be order). It is to be expected that they will develop tactics for discrediting social movements or even at earlier stages they will plant disruptive elements and intelligence gathering within groups as a way to control them. They see their role as controlling to uphold order and will do that wherever they think people are out of order - autonomists and trade unionists all threaten the power that maintains the only order that cops can see. It is all about control and authority one way or another.

police and violence

30.03.2009 22:58

the police like violence that they can control, as they quite like fighting and gain justification for whatever repression they want to carry out. However, when it gets above above police control, like the poll tax riots of the early 90s, rioting can actually be very effective, in that case it is largely creditted with bringing down thatcher. There are too many examples in history where violent struggle has been both justified and effective to go into here, but I would recomend reading 'why non-violence protects the state' by Peter Gelderloos, it spells out why pacifism is racist, innefective (from a revolutionary, not a refomist perspective), patriarchal and statist

not a pacificist

It's easy

30.03.2009 23:54

It's easy to denounce violence in this country and take the moral highground when you're white and priviliged. What about people who live in repressive regimes, dying of poverty - should they just put up with it and appeal to their rulers' "better nature." Yeah, that'll work...

This is disinformation!!!!!

31.03.2009 12:32

I have a VERY different interpretation of those videos to Betty Blue ands others

You cant imply that people with black clothes are cops!
this only helps to spread distrust and fear amongst all of us

if you look at the 3rd link given

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhGRQ6a0qd8&feature=related

which is from a news report, It makes it clear that the union guy (IN SUIT) is working WITH the young activsts (IN BLACK) to eject undercover police (WHITE CAP UNUSED BRICK IN HAND) who clearly are moving towards their colleagues for protection.

The state and media are really trying to promote disunity between the various movements at the moment lets not further it on indymedia, so lets celebrate this noble act of unity in Canada of comrades from different traditions working together against our common foes!!!!

Provocateurs have many different clothes
some even post on indymedia...........

Actions not Looks

Oh and another thing

31.03.2009 12:42

Just had a look at the first vid posted and at 0:26 one of the masked activists clearly says to the union rep “these guys are cops” he replies “I know”.

The union guy then tries to get the cops to unmask and drop the brick not those in black in general. (who are all pointing at the undercovers!)

Betty Blue i challenge you to come back on here and give a different interpretation of those events.

Diversity is strength

Actions not Looks

If you doubt

31.03.2009 17:59

that these guys are cops then check out this news report - when cops were asked who the 'arrested' men were they said 'no comment' I'm sure if they were 'genuine' protesters they would have been identified, and/or turned up at the union's press conference - have they been traced? if not they were Stasi all right
