Mad Science Award
Mad Science Award

SHAC has sent HLS customers a Mad Science Award, and the animals inside HLS need YOU to get yourselves organised for this week and take action in the form of phone calls, emails, letter writing and protests.

Webpage  http://www.shac.net/action/demos/MadScience/index.html

Feel free to download the award and hand it in during a demonstration, or post it to Mad Science customers!

UK  http://www.shac.net/action/uk_targets/index.html

Please visit our resources page to order leaflets and posters for protests:
 http://www.shac.net/resources/campaign_materials.html

If you are ordering resources for the week of action, please write a note when you make the order so we can post your order using first class post if necessary to ensure you receive campaign materials on time. If you are ordering materials outside the UK, remember that it takes around 3-5 days to deliver orders to Europe and around 7-10 days for orders outside the EU.

If you live in an area where you cannot get to a customer of HLS, then please make sure you send emails, write letters and make phone calls to support those who are out on the streets.

Please send demo reports in to  info@shac.net and if you have any questions or queries about the week of action, please get in touch.

Phone Calls / Letter Writing

PHONE CALLS

This week the animals in HLS need you to make calls to as many of HLS' customers as you can. They are very quick and simple to do, so please take time to fit some in on your lunch breaks and throughout the day if you are free. If you are out and about and you pass a phone box, remember to stop and make a call; or top up your mobile to make calls on the go. Why not print off the numbers you need and keep them with you so you remember to call.

If this is your first time, then there is nothing to worry about, just ring the numbers below and tell the person on the other end that you are calling because their company is funding horrific cruelty at HLS and you are ringing because you want it to stop. You can ask to be put through to someone in management to discuss the issue. It is a good idea to write down a few facts and points about HLS which you can research on our website so you remember what to say and don't get tongue tied.

We know that there are many supporters of our campaign who are connected to the industry in some way due to the nature of some of the information we are leaked, so if you want to take part in our phone protest but are concerned about your identity because of your job, then use a public phone box instead of your home phone and dial 141 before you make your call.

LETTER WRITING

Please write to the ten companies listed below during this week of action.

If you have a printer see the link above to download the Mad Science Award certificate which you can post with your letter as well as any leaflets you have about vivisection and Huntingdon Life Sciences. (You can order our leaflets from our resources page)

If you would like to write to company sites outside the uk, please click here to see our customer data base:  http://www.shac.net/action/customers/clients/index.html

>> Sample letter:

To whom it may concern

I am writing to you because the you are one of many winners of SHAC's mad science award for carrying out cruel and unnecessary experiments at Huntingdon Life Sciences.

You would have to be mad to carry out experiments at a laboratory...

• notorious for manipulating and recording fraudulent data.
• which has been infiltrated more times than any other in the world.
• where workers were filmed pretending to have sex with animals and punching beagles in the face.
• which is heading towards bankruptcy.
• which has to water down disinfectant and reuse needles.

I invite you to visit the website: www.shac.net to find out more about the exposes at Huntingdon Life Sciences and the campaign to shut them down.
