To try and evade responsibility for Mr Tomlinson's death the police have concocted this sickening, unsustainable falsehood. They show no regret for his death or respect to his bereaved family and this bullying, deceitful contempt for the public is becoming a characteristic of the police system today.Mr Tomlinson died as a direct result of police loutishness and brutality and disregard for life. The passing of Mr menezes is also horific as it shows there is one law for state sponsered bullies hiding behind police uniforms and another law for everyone else.
Then today I hear two of their dogs have met a horrible death suffocating in the back of a police car and their "handler' has not even been suspended. The list goes on a long way and even after eleven years there is no accountability for the death of Christopher Alder whose passing has been accompanied by institutional deceit and cover up engineered by the IPCC among others.
I am myself a past victim of police brutality, violence, deceit and fit up and hold the police, as a body of viscious state sponsered non accountable criminals in the utmost contempt

My Respect, sympathy and solidarity to all families bereaved by police action or innaction and my solidarity with all who like me are sick of a system that allows these actions to be performed with no accountability or impunity

Like the story put out about on the idiot box ( hello CH4 news ) and newspapers that the violence was somehow a new police tactic/untrained officers/abberation and not the truncheon bruises, sexual assault for the women, and broken bones ( particularly if you are working class and/or black ) from the uniformed perverts we have come to expect at demos.
Then there's the little matter of the deaths in custody and during arrest - we all know somebody who has manged to 'kill themselves' in police custody. A promotion for Cressida Dick for Menezes so more promotions to follow no doubt.

We now have extra reason to ask for police numbers when they are hidden from view as they so frequently are.

If they don't tell us we can now really push the issue on the basis that they may be impostors.

So since posing as a policeman is a crime and the police now doubt anyone in uniform, that is surely good enough grounds for anyone to use all necessary reasonable force to effect and maintain a citizens arrest of any 'policeman'!

I don't think Crimestoppers would know be honest about, or even know, if a particular officer was genuine though so it's odd advice, I've never phoned them though so I'm not even sure it is a real cop you speak to.

I remember the police advice for if you think a police vehicle trying to stop you is fake, to drive to the nearest police station. It was issued after a woman was attacked by a driver who stopped her car with a blue flashing light. Say you followed it though, if someone was trying to hurt you it wouldn't necessarily save you as even if you got into a police station before the assailant, in most police stations you have to ring a bell and wait ten minutes before someone answers.

As for not being any safer in a police station: that would be true if it weren't for the fact that most people wouldn't risk following someone into a police station to commit a crime unless they were deranged, stupid or supremely confident of getting away with it. So, given the place is riddled with CCTV and crawling with coppers, it's unlikely an opportunist would risk it,

As for the topic, perhaps 'Police mooted whether public were stupid enough to buy "a big boy did it and ran away" as an alibi', may be more accurate. Perhaps, they reasoned that the public used it often enough was an indication they may stupid enough to believe it themselves.

Every policeman is trained enough to know that striking out at someone who isn't a threat to anyone is illegal. Every toddler is trained to know that is immoral.
The police include hired thugs and so should not be rewarded with more money for training in what is just normal decency, and instead the policeman killer, his boss, and his bosses boss should be on trial for murder or manslaughter.
