What happened to the summer of rage?

Last Hours | 20.07.2009 10:24 | Other Press | Social Struggles

Sorry for the repost but thought people might be interested in this article. We would also like to open debate on this so leave a comment on the Last Hours site.

Earlier in the year it seemed to be accepted almost as fact that this summer would see waves of unrest and street riots. But half way through summer none have happened. Peter Hogan takes a brief overview of the reasons why people haven’t come out onto the street in any great numbers.

See the article here.

The reason people havnt come out is because its a load of bollox. Made up hysteria by a small minority of troublemakers trying to drum up support.

Huh?

who are these 'troublemakers' you talk of?

on here

you see them posting on here a lot. Most of them are anarchists i think. Usually trying to desparately to get in trouble with the police so they can fake disbelief and cry: "look, bad policeman stopping me doing xyz".

Wow

Have you any idea what anarchism is about? You couldn't be further from the truth.

Trolls

A load of comments have gone up all at the same time slagging off various actions and groups - clearly some cop or nazi troll.

Good point Rose. I agree. It is a load of bollocks. Made up by a bunch of troublemakers called the corporate press and the police state apparatus.

things kick off when you least expect it

It's very difficult to predict when things will kick off. Hot weather helps, but sometimes it can be a random event that grabs the imagination and makes things snowball from there.

I wouldn't be surprised if something happens that none of us have predicted, and that turns into massive civil unrest and rioting.

You just have to sense the mood and grab the opportunity should it arise.

rage?

22.07.2009 15:43

For whatever reason the police forcast a summer of rage. Probably to protect their own budgets. Am i enraged by this? Not really, more like pissed off, but i have come to expect this sort of stuff.

So the revised forcast downgrades a summer of rage to a summer and winter of intermittent gripes & complaints leading up to a spring election....

Roll on next summer.
