This is disgraceful. Who is that prick?!

On the other hand...

...Had you considered that he was in fact executing a nifty one-man pincer movement, in effect surrounding the police? They don't like it up 'em!

Why should we be surprised?

25.08.2009 08:29

It's almost as if people think the unions and police should be on different sides (miners notwithstanding).

Back in 2007 here's what the GMB had to say about the police during their pay dispute:
Rehana Azam, GMB National Officer at the negotiations said, “The joint trade unions are asking the Home Secretary not to undo the good work the government has done over the last ten years to achieve a unified law enforcement workforce".

Workers in uniform comrades, workers in uniform.

Which side are you on

sad times

25.08.2009 08:39

Yeah, it's ridiculous to see so blatantly, but it's not like it hasn't happened before. Trade union 'leaders' are always pulling this shit, and generally getting away with it. GMB is especially dodgy, and notorious for ousting militants with gay abandon whenever the members get a bit too feisty.

After they were praised by the Lindsey wildcats it looks like it's back to class collaborationist business as usual for the GMB bigwigs.

Could be a Copper Under Cover

25.08.2009 08:58

This could be a undercover copper, acting under reflex-reaction, who has blown his cover under a mentally challenging situation.

Photoshopped?

25.08.2009 08:59

Are you sure it is genuine. Could it not just be a photoshop job?

25.08.2009 14:26

joker

25.08.2009 16:25

Has anyone stopped to consider that this guy might be just a bit of a joker and was actually deliberately posing for the photo after noticing that the police were rather busy ??

unusual of the police...

25.08.2009 20:59

to let someone join in like this. I mean, in any argy-bargy I've ever been involved in the police would have freaked if a stranger hand come around their back and helped out. They're more likely to have turned on them with their baton.

This whole situation seems strange to me - is this behind a proper police line? If so, why is there our camera people there? Can someone fill in a bit more context about this particular point.

Don't get me wrong, who ever's in the GMB jacket has some serious questions to answer, and I do not believe it is photoshopped or some situationist stunt (really folks...), but the whole thing is a bit weird with just this to go on.

Yes mate, I agree with you - that is why I think that this guy is just a bit of a joker that spotted a photo op and went for it.

To be honest - If it was me, I would have made this pic my Facebook profile pic - just for the laugh of it. - He is not really "Collaborating" with the police. The whole thing is just a joke.

realist

response

25.08.2009 22:25

And if anyone ever accepts the charge of 'Collaborating with the Police' and deals this OAP any violence, then I will personally track you down and straighten things out.

As a committed anti-fascist with 20 years experience - I can honestly say that this OLD AGE PENSIONER is not the enemy- we must leave him alone.

personally I think that the pic was a bit of a joke, he spotted a photo opportunity and went for it - good on him - ha ha.

If he was genuinely trying to help the police (which I doubt) then - lets be honest - it was not alot of help.

Ha Ha - great pic.

Lets leave it at that.

realist

You joking

25.08.2009 22:41

The guy must be 50+, do you honestly think he is joking? A photo opportunity? Surely he would have been turning to camera and posing? No he is actually helping the police contain a crowd - thats it, you cannot seriously reintepret this photo!

an

oh come off it !!! LOL

25.08.2009 23:08

This photo is such a joke a PMSL everytime I see it.

You say that he is "actually helping the police contain a crowd" - come off it - you are having a laugh - have you ever seen the police go wild ? - I have

There is no way he is actually providing any serious help whatsoever.

He is either some joker that posed for the camera - or a mixed up OAP - either way he is NOT the enemy.

Get real and focus your attentions onto the real enemy - the far-right.

Leave this guy alone. - Like I said if anyone has a go at this OAP then I will have a word with you, and you might not like what I have to say.

realist

You what?

26.08.2009 01:47

"Has anyone stopped to consider that this guy might be just a bit of a joker and was actually deliberately posing for the photo after noticing that the police were rather busy ??"

Doesn't look like a pose, holding back a crowd of antifascists doesn't seem like a joke.

"And if anyone ever accepts the charge of 'Collaborating with the Police' and deals this OAP any violence, then I will personally track you down and straighten things out."

If this OAP stood in my way, using force against me to prevent me from reaching a fascist gathering, I would defend myself and use force in return. If he didn't try and stop me with force then we both wouldn't have a problem - I'd walk past him and their would be no issue.

I'm guessing you're not going to track down anybody the OAP was violent towards then? Just because somebody may be of a different sex, race or age, etc, it doesn't pacify me.

"As a committed anti-fascist with 20 years experience - I can honestly say that this OLD AGE PENSIONER is not the enemy- we must leave him alone."

Anyone becomes the enemy when they try to control you and defend fascists, OAP or not.

You might find this all a hilarious joke, probably because you have never genuinely been threatened by fascists. They have violently attacked me so I don't find this funny at all.

"you might not like what I have to say." - I really don't give a shit what you think or say.

Anti-fascism is not a fucking joke, its a bloody war. Anybody defending fascists is a target.

real realist

oh really?

26.08.2009 08:32

it is having nobs like you on our side is part of the reason the the BNP is making gains.

15 years ago people like you would be in AFA and spend your saturday afternoons "spotting" and getting worked up about anyone with short hair and a tattoo.

realist

Trot along now little man and do as you are told....

26.08.2009 09:14

...and by our side I assume you are referring to those state loving parasites using an antifascist front for political gain. tut tut

@narchist

ask derby gmb for an explanation

27.08.2009 18:14

He's too old and short to be a cop ,and was with the demo as human bean's other linked pic
shows .So there could be an innocent explanation. It would be good if somebody from Derby contacted the GMB for a comment.
