Welcome to Palestine Today, a service of the International Middle East Media Center, www.imemc.org for Tuesday September 1st, 2009

A Palestinian child was killed by Israeli troops as five Palestinian youth got kidnapped, these stories and more coming up, stay tuned.

The News Cast

This morning at dawn a Palestinian child died of his wounds in an Israeli hospital after he was shot by Israeli soldiers on Monday night.

The child, Mohammad Riyadh Nayef, 15, from Al Jalazoun refugee camp, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, was seriously wounded after the army claimed that he and other youths hurled stones at military jeeps.

The army also fired rounds of live ammunition, gas bombs, and concussion grenades, at several residents and medics who had rushed to the scene to evacuate the wounded; three medics were wounded and were moved to Sheikh Zayed hospital in Ramallah.

One of them, an ambulance driver, was shot in his leg while he was trying to rescue the life of Mohammad Nayef. Another medic was shot in his hand.
Israeli soldiers also prevented a Palestinian ambulance from reaching the injured boy, according to medical officials.

At the same time, local sources at the Al Jalazoun refugee camp, reported that the army kidnapped four young Palestinian and took them to an unknown destination.

Elsewhere in the West Bank, another Palestinian youth was kidnapped by Israeli soldiers, after they invaded the village of Bil’in, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah. The army also wanted to kidnap another youth but he wasn’t at home.

The Friends of Freedom and Justice Committee in Bil’in reported that at least four military jeeps invaded the village and that some 50 soldiers were deployed in several parts of the village and broke into a number of homes.

Several international peace activists tried to intervene; some of them documented the attack and challenged the invading forces while the army responded by firing teargas bombs and concussion grenades. Soldiers also used a laser beam on some of the activists in an attempt to intimidate them.

Bil’in is one of the leading examples of active nonviolent resistance against the Annexation Wall, and became the scene of nearly daily attacks by the Israeli forces.

"The child, Mohammad Riyadh Nayef, 15, from Al Jalazoun refugee camp, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, was seriously wounded after the army claimed that he and other youths hurled stones at military jeeps."

Quite possibly he was just throwing stones and even more possibly you have Palestinian sources claiming stones.

But you are saying that ISRAELI sources were claiming throwing stones so you had better provide the source information because all the Israeli sources I have seen reported the boys were throwing not stones but "Molotov coctails". BTW, he wasn't the only one hit, just the most seriously wounded.

(Bad journalism in a good cause is less helpful than you might think. They only need to find one "misreported" story in a batch to call everyting into question. My suggestion is that you also monitor the various Israeli sources on stories and when the versions differ dig further before posting uncritically. There's a quote that applies, "truth is the first victim of war" --- and at the moment I can't recall the source for which I apologize).

Surely thats a job for zionist commenteers, rather than Palestinian journos?

All the Palestinian sources I have seen claim that stones (not molotovs) were thrown AFTER the shooting had already happened.

Haaretz says he was 'suspected' of throwing firebombs - they were looking for people who had thrown them EARLIER at a settlement fence.

stones or Molotov (although given the enormous propensity for zionists to lie outrageously and without guile, we'd guess that it was neither - stones at a push)?

just show me one other nation in the 'democratic west' that israel so painfully demands to be seen as part of, that uses LIVE ammunition against children throwing stones

no other champions league nation or song contest nation within EUROPE (note that will you people - europe, not the occupied middle east) does such a thing, let alone paying an army of infantile bloggers to disrupt and distort any information outlet that dares to tell the truth on these things ...

go now and do not return to this site oh useless zionist trash ... and take your ex-post-facto rationalisations of your vile racist supremacist outlook with you
