Circus Mondao in West Yorkshire – Take Action!

Circus Mondao are currently setting up show at Calverley, West Yorkshire (in between Leeds and Bradford). They are one of the few remaining circuses willing to use animals in acts, and tour with zebras, llamas, a mule, 16 dogs, camels, horses, ponies, rabbits, ferrets, and birds.

From Wednesday 16th September to Sunday 20th September, Mondao will be at:

Carr Road,
Calverley,
West Yorkshire, LS28 5RT

Check Your Local Zara for Fur

In 2005 the parent company of Zara, Inditex, issued a policy of not selling real fur which covered all companies in the group.

However, it has come to our attention that in this season’s stock, fox fur trimmed coats are contained and on sale at the Leeds store. We have spoke to the manager and made them aware of the policy, as a result of which the coats were taken off sale and the Line Manager at the Head Office was contacted.

This appears to be a genuine mistake, so we ask that people check their local Zara stores and bring it to the management’s attention if any real fur is on sale. No demonstrations will be organised unless we find otherwise.

New Fur Target Coming Soon

In the next 5 days, we will be releasing the details of a new nationwide company who are selling real fur.

Demonstrations are already being planned, and co-ordinated with other national A.R. groups, for a number of stores belonging to the company, so watch this space for more details.

Stall Report – Leeds City Centre

Today, West Yorkshire Animal Rights Group held a stall on Briggate, Leeds City Centre, to give out information to the public about campaigns we are actively involved in.

Support from the public was great, with over 100 signatures collected on our petition to get the government to enforce the Hunting Ban. Many people were shocked about the cruelty still happening and a number of people took details of how to get involved with protests, hunt sabbing and supporting campaigns. Others also took leaflets and discussed about the best way to become vegetarian and vegan.

Minibus to Highgate Farm National – September 26th

A minibus has been organised from Leeds to the Operation Liberation national protest at Highgate Rabbit Farm in Lincolnshire on Saturday 26th September.
