Capacity Crowd Welcomes New Wyre Group

A capacity crowd so large that the venue had to be hastily doubled in size last night gave a rapturous welcome to the formation of the latest group in Wyre.
“A week of high drama, controversy and protest ended last night with an absolutely superb capacity meeting of the newly formed Wyre BNP group in the council-owned, Frank Townend Community Centre last night,” said Clive Jefferson, North West regional organiser.
“The meeting had been big news locally for two weeks since James Clayton, BNP candidate in a by-election currently being fought in Cleveleys, booked the community centre for the meeting,” Mr Jefferson said.
“What followed, as you can no doubt guess, was hysteria and anti-democratic pressure from the Labour group, backed by their extremist Communist allies in the UAF and Searchlight organisations, to try and stop the meeting.
“As is increasingly the case, the council stood firm and insisted that the BNP had to be treated like any other political party before the Jubilee Ward by-election on October 22,” Mr Jefferson said.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Jefferson went on to pay tribute to Wyre Council chief executive Jim Corry for his principled stand.
“I predict that as we gain acceptance across the North West it is only a mater of time before we have elected officials on most local councils in the region,” Mr Jefferson told the meeting.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Clayton said that the “meeting has been a total success. We booked a room with a capacity of 40. Luckily, council staff were able to remove a partition which doubled the room size which also was soon full to capacity. Some people were turned away because of the lack of space,” he said.
“The meeting was one of the best I have ever attended. We sold 300 Voice of Freedom newspapers and residents took away in excess of 2,000 leaflets.
“We had at least nine first time meeting attendees join up on the night, much to the astonishment of the local reporter we allowed in to hear Mr Jefferson speak,” Mr Clayton said.
