probation office attacked in brighton

NN666 | 02.11.2009 15:31

probation office attacked in brighton with stones and paint.

last night we smashed the windows of the probation office on dyke road in brighton. this out of solidarity with prisoners everywhere, in every single prison, whether this means being locked up behind bars or being a prisoner in this society of coercion and control which tries to force us into being nothing but slaves to the capitalist system. we are fucking disgusted by this society and its delegates such as the pigs, the screws, the bosses etc. we have smashed these windows and we will do it again.

we will not be satisfied until there is nothing left of this prisonworld but its ashes, until every prisoner of this society is free.

DESTROY ALL PRISONS.
VIVA L' ANARCHIA.

I quite enjoy my community order- sometimes organic farm, sometimes charity shop or community project for children, biscuits, tea , coffee, friendly chat with other 'slaves' . A lot of junkies who can't be bothered more to take care of their life, just commit some crime to go to prison, where they get methadone, food , tv and a lot of great social life with inmates alike. Of course , this is Britain. Compare chinese or burmese or any prisons from the 3rd world or detention centres.
That's right , we live under this shit, and fair play to you comrades, I was thinking about the same :) but there are far more important targets.

hmmm

02.11.2009 22:28

yeah, open all the prisons.

do us a favour though, just after you do please explain to the families of those who have lost loved ones to murder, rape incest, child abuse, drug dealing etc that you have done this so that we can all wait outside the doors and do the job "society" wont do and butcher every single last one of them.

Prison protects them from US, the victims, and you sir are a victim of your own lack of morals, frankly I pity you.

anon by right

Well I think it's great what you have done

03.11.2009 00:41

To get the sort of frothing at the mouth responses you have done you must be doing something right. Genuine posts or state propagandists? Who knows.

Anyway, I think anyone who tries to throw a spanner in the works, like you have done, deserves congratulations. So, nice one!

Distinguishing between probation service and prison

03.11.2009 14:44

While I agree with your critique of the destructive role of the prison system within the repression of the capitalist state, I think it's important to distinguish between different aspects of this structure.

The people who work for the probation service are effectively social workers for people who have been through the court system. Their aim (despite the government eroding its functions to turn it into a bureaucratic processing facility) has always been to try to help ex-prisoners stabilise their lives, find accomodation, etc.

The individuals who work for probation aren't like cops, and are actually trying to help people.

The most long-serving and dedicated members of staff are currently leaving in droves, as they become disenchanted with the way that the Labour government has been re-casting their role as box-tickers in the merry-go-round of prison and alienation from society experienced by many people convicted of criminal offences.

They are also in the peculiar position of being consistently cast in a scapegoat sandwich, by the government and the media, when (shock, horror) someone re-offends, etc.

Although I don't believe in reform as a viable approach to capitalism, I think that it's important to support people trying to do this work which helps the lives of individuals, rather than smashing their windows.

So, while I agree with your general stance, I feel that I disagree with the direction of your actions.

I completely agree with J. This 'action' is really very silly indeed - frankly stupid in it's conception

fuck the probation service, fuck the probation officers

03.11.2009 16:12

all of you who are against the smashing of the windows can fuck off. its minor damage. the probation services deserve much more. they are just another branch of the prison industry. you critics obviously have never been throught the crimninal 'justice' system and have no idea about the realities of it all. think the prisons, police, courts, probation etc. are there to stop murderers and rapists. think again. oh, and once more, fuck off

@non

against all prison guards and probation officers

03.11.2009 22:52

Stop this liberal nonsense about social management, these are the people who are locking up friends and comrades, they can fuck off, as can all those socialists who defend them.

ive been on probation licence for nearly a year and it runs out in a few weeks. on my licence it says i can be recalled to prison if i am not "well behaved". anyone who has the power to put another human in jail based on their personal definition of "well behaved" does not deserve any sympathy and their place of work should be burned down to the ground. what people do not realise, and i know because im part of the "system", is that probabtion officers are very powerful when it comes to the fine line between staying out of jail and going back. here's a list of things i have known about that have sent people back to jail, and they are true to my knowledge...

- a man was recalled after his car was stolen outside of a party where he was for most of the night. Probation officers ban any staying away from the main home of the person on licence - even going to a party. he reported his car stolen from outside the party and the police told his probation officer where he was and he was sent back to jail for nearly two years, to finish his five year term.

- a man missed an appointment for a course on anger management/drugs use and was recalled without any chance to do the course or make up for his mistake of not arriving on time.

- a man had an argument with his ex (nothing to do with why he was on licence) and she rang the probation service and asked if he could be recalled because she felt he was a threat. whether he was or not was never investigated and he was recalled back for a month.

And the list goes on.........we should target probation more frequently comrades, they are more sinister than you think and have more power than you may be aware of!

they can send people back to jail for the silliest and minor of infractions of their "rules". they are in need of challenging. i over heard a guy in the pub recently saying he'd like to fire bomb a probation office........................i think that would be good of him........because in my opinion, propaganda of the deed is still viable.

and to those that think we cant live without prisons, you're wrong. we can. but not until we overthrow those that enslave us............

The attack was rightfullyy directed against the prison system,
what some of the commenters on this article fail to realise is that the employees of these offices don't have to repair the damage themselves, nor were they injured as a result of the action. This attack was directed against the prison system.

...And as pointed out the probation service is forcing bad working conditions upon its employees, the authors of the article forgot to mention that the attack was also in solidarity with workers taking it up the backside from their bosses.

...So in conclusion, good action all round so may those graceful anarchist nightingales flutter free spreading the wording and shitting upon their nemesis'.

one more tiny detail, the prison system is the solution of the state for anyone it does not want or feels the necessasity of having on the street. Without an overall system there is no need for a prison system, appreciating the prison system means that you feel you need the state to protect you.
