We WILL be in Market Square!

Nottingham UAF | 04.12.2009 05:21 | Anti-racism | Sheffield

According to the Evening Post, the Police want Unite Against Fascism to change our meeting point.

Our plans are not changing. We will meet 10am in Market Square, as has been the published point for many weeks.

Market Square is the major focal point of Nottingham, and we will not surrender this to the EDL or the Police.

Let's all give the EDL the welcome they deserve on Saturday.

But....

04.12.2009 10:30

But the edl are 'protesting' at the castle... It doesn't seem like a static demo half a mile away from the bastards is the best approach...

If it takes a voice, shout the truth
If it takes a hand, hold them back
If it takes a fist, smash them down

UAF too scared to confront Islamofascism!

04.12.2009 11:09

So rather than confront the preachers of hate of the Islamofascism movement because that would be politically incorrect as you can't tell people that some muslims are evil you instead confront a group of people who are prepared to take on Islamofascism and wrong label them fascists for having the guts to speak out again Islamic extremism.

No to racism but no also to Islamofascism

UAF - piss up in a brewery anyone??

04.12.2009 11:30

so the UAF are bravely defying the Police and moving even further away than the Gala Casino on Maid Marian Way to the Market Square. If being a half mile away from the EDL demo is what the Fascists "deserve", then you might as well give them the keys to the city and a reception at the Council House. It is public knowledge that they are meeting at Nottm train station and the Wetherspoons opposite at 2pm, marching to the Castle at 2.30 via Castle Boulevard and Castle Street with the deomonsration/speakers taking place next to the Castle at 3pm. The Police are going to try to keep both demonstrations apart at all times with a virtual no-go zone barricaded off down the length of Maid Marian Way. It is obvious from UAF/Police collaboration with this plan that the static demo's are going to be kettled in out of ear shot of the EDL and vice versa. It is also obvious where the weak points are in this plan if you look at the surrounding areas on google maps. For those that dare this will be the Navigation Pub opposite Castle Wharf as the EDL are shepherded across Castle Boulevard to the Trip to Jerusalem Pub. If you are thinking of taking part in any anti-EDL demo forget the distractions of the Mercian march, Royal Concert Hall, Market Square, Gala Casino and mis-information being pumped out by the state. We own the streets and the knowledge, lets not gift the bastards an easy ride in Nottingham....!No Pasaran!

smash the EDL on Saturday

04.12.2009 12:28

its right....we should avoid the swp/uaf kettle. i urge you, comrades and activists, bring resources for bursting through lines if you are serious about getting near the edl or even just serious about bursting out of a kettle for your own safety!!

bring old plastic sheeting, cardboard, even, as a last resort. bring sponge or plastic bottles glued to a board...anything to repel baton crunches and fists from coppers!

Be inspired on Saturday. by protecting yourself YOU ARE NOT BREAKING THE LAW. Reasonable defence is ALLOWED IN LAW, remember, its the same law the police use when they hit us!

see you on the streets..

smash the EDL - I don't think so.

04.12.2009 12:35

I don't think you will stand any chance of smashing the EDL in Nottingham on Saturday especially as the EDL demo will be swelled with hundreds of football fans that day due to the fact there is a major football match on in the city on the same day and will therefore outnumber you counter demonstrators.

UAF are worse than useless!

04.12.2009 14:29

The UAF are at best irrelevant and at worst counter-productive to the anti-fascist movement. By rallying people well away from the EDL, and often collaborating with the police to stop people trying to get nearer to the fascists, who are they helping but the fascists themselves?

I advise all anti-fascists : avoid the UAF/police kettle, stay mobile, stay angry!
