Direct Action
06.12.2009 23:06
It is not merely symbolic and a load of middle class people reading the Guardian out loud together. Groups are being formed that will take part in direct action (willing, if need be, to be arrested etc.), which, I presume, you support. Outreach is trying to spread the message: not only one of 'we need to act for cliamte justice', but that social and systemic change is needed, not just tinkering with capitalism. It is anti-capitalist (unlike The Wave). There were even some [crap] anarchist banners there, and mainly it was anarchistic types.
Get involved and even encourage militancy if you want, but don't just complain!

And to Anarchist Climate Camper-
Thanks for your considerate manner, but I have partaken in Climate Camp activities and seen it for myself, as well as being angered in talks at this years event by the massive opposition shown towards anti-capitalism, with arguements as poor as 'but we need to fight climate change now!' being predominatant.
Yes, CC did start out as an anti-capitalist radical idea and practice but it appears to have been slowly taken in by the wooly minder liberals that hinder any progress and reject class politics, Of course this is a massive generalisation and there are many good people involved- particualry the ones who organise the infrastructure of the camps, but I just can't get over the pandering to the media and friendliness to the pigs- espcially considering they've felt the rough end of the stick!
