Barclays sabotaged in Brighton

anon | 22.01.2010 20:27

On Tuesday 19th January we sabotaged two Barclays cashpoints in Brighton and left the message 'Investors in death'

We did this in response to the anti-militarist callout against Barclays but realise that this is not all Barclays represent. This is part of a continued struggle against the domination and exploitation of capitalism which the banks represent.

To think I used to think this kind of stuff was worthwhile... :(

Glad I became more aware of what anarchism and anti-capitalism really meant.

anarchist

to anarchist

23.01.2010 09:46

..which means what? Sitting around spouting political polemics? One of the things 'anarchism and anti-capitalism' should mean is mutual support. Respect for those who are willing to get off their arses and take some risks in support of others.

Calm please Anon!

Calm down officers, please.....we know you are interested in any information all that will lead to the arrest of these hoologans who carried out this act of sabotage.....

what exactly does this have do do with anarchism?

23.01.2010 18:27

or even disrupting Barclays, since they don't make money out of ATM withdrawals...

erm

23.01.2010 19:50

before we get all anti-anarchist, or sectarian, no one actually mentioned anarchism in the original post........just thought id point that out.
and for the record,
barclays fund the arms trade as middle markers for EDO/ITT, component manufacturers for israel's military aircraft that drop bombs on kids.
They also invested heavily in dodgy "african regimes", supported "oil extraction" and funded, whether directly or indirectly, anti-opposition to these business endeavors in the late eighties and early nineties. barclays are one of the biggest, most unethical funders of the arms trade around the globe.

there is no plausible reason why they should not be targeted, in terms of pripaganda and revenge.

unless anyone would like to offer one?

and please dont say that the "workers wont be able to withdraw their wages" from ATM's, as that is the lamest apologism for capitalist venture ive ever heard, and please dont say, "they'll just replace it" as no manager wants to bill head office with a smashed window or ATM bill, it doesn't look good, or bode well, for those that cant repel rebels from their shop front.
if enough windows go through, say for example every window, everyday, or every time it is fixed, eventually, the rent for the place will be surpassed by the costs of damages, ergo, the company moves to a cheaper, "safer" place, or spends thousands on "security". or it shuts down the premises and leaves, either way, its part of the war against capitalism, and a good tactic and propaganda of the deed.
if enough people cared, or enough of us acted, we could be gutting shops, banks and police stations in a flash, not necessarily as a way to crumble anything at all, yet to create a system of retaliation and revenge for the ills and wrongs of capitalist ways. it needs to be punished, "our" way of life is wrong. its as simple as that, surely?
it's not within the realms of impossibility, is it, that this present system, of rich over poor, could all be replaced?

thats why people fight and struggle on.
to all those who act: well done,
to all those who detract: you are as complicit in our undoing as our enemies........

fran - you need to get a job of something. basically, turn your life around
at some point (35-45) you start to realise you have got nothing and start to take a great interest in how crap the state pension is (if it even still exists)

you can bang on about the evils of the capitalist system, but where else are you going to find the means to put food on the table and a roof over your head? Handouts?

I'd suggest to stop stirring things up so much in a vain attempt to turn the UK into somekind of post-apocolyptic mad max world, which wil lead to much more suffering than your own accusations point to

As much as it may annoy you, im like this for real.

i genuinely believe what i say, and more often than not, i try my best to live the way i "preach", as it were, because if i didn't id be a hypocrite. there's still a bit of recycling to be done, and unfortunately i dont live in a proper anarchist community yet, but it'll get there.
to be honest,i have a job, kids, ambitions, dreams, a partner, a history, a whole dam future - hopefully - and am on my path, as you are on yours.
im working on a written project, those that know me properly, will recognise what im talking about, but basically its a novel, about much of the topics discussed by anarcho-socialist "types", and hopefully when ive completed it, i wont have to bother being part of the "indymedia propaganda wars" of the future!!!

because thats what part of this function represents to me: a cog in our propaganda effort to revolutionise our lives and challenge the order of our slavery. people come on here and troll it to death in support of the state or BNP ir EDL.
and i suppse, in my own, if what confrontational manner, i do it on behalf of those of us who want actual, physical, cultural and REAL change, for a world not based on greed and profit, animal enslavery or capitalism.......it really is so simple, Step Up.
im not perfect, far from it, and im not the most knowledgable anarcho around, BUT, why the antagonised reaction from you? does the politics of the libertarian, however its defintion bends and fluctuates within the "movements", disturb you so much?

thanks "a friend", its nice to know someone gives a shit about my "opinion", which is all it is. but thanks all the same.

fran

there seem to have been a spate of these actions.

in doing so you are attacking and inconveniencing members of the working class who can't withdraw their own cash as well as lining the pockets of the corporations that manufacture and repair these machines

it is indeed a strange 'anti-capitalist' protest that keeps Barclays coffers full, impoverishes workers who can't get their money out and enriches other corporations.

nice one.

"in doing so you are attacking and inconveniencing members of the working class"

That is one of the most idiotic comments I've seen on here for a while. I only hope it is a troll and not a genuine activist.

I suppose you also oppose strikes because they inconvenience the working class?

Demonstrations because they increase the amount working class taxpayers have to pay for the policing costs?

etc.

Maybe we should all just stay in bed and watch X Factor and Big Brother?

Good on anyone who trashes the banks or their directors, even if it might inconvenience me.
