Porton Down military lab blew up 18 pigs

Live pigs are being blown up as part of a series of government terrorism experiments at Porton Down, the government's secret military research laboratory.

(Porton Down propaganda removed)
Eighteen pigs wrapped in protective Kevlar blankets were blasted .

The animals were placed less than three yards from an explosive. Before being blown up, tubes were inserted into their blood vessels and bladders, and their spleens were removed.

Scientists wanted to find out how long the animals survived when more than a third of their blood had drained from their bodies.

Medics hope the experiments will help British soldiers in Afghanistan as well as casualties of terror attacks like the July 2005 bombing of the London Underground and a double-decker bus.

Norman Baker, the Liberal Democrat MP for Lewes, questioned the use of live animals in military experiments.

Talking to the Sunday Times he said: “These are revolting and unnecessary experiments. Sadly, we are too familiar with the effects of terrorism. It is perfectly possible to find out things we don’t know without blowing up pigs to find out.”

The facility at Porton Down, in Wiltshire, was originally set up during the first world war to research chemical warfare.

No pigs survived the experiments

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the Univ of Innsbruck in Austria pigs were buried
alive in snow and their body responses monitored
as they froze to death. While the Austrian university
claims it was done for avalanche research, there is
speculation that Afghan soldiering was a motive.

At the Univ of Wisconsin, pigs have been tasered.
They have also been tasered at Barnes Air Force Base
in Texas.

They are burned in research in the Netherlands
and Australia.

The Australian project is in the hands of Dr Nicholas Vardaxis, senior lecturer in pathology at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). His fellow sadist is Dr Thomas Brans, of the Dutch Burns Foundation.

These MOD experiments are used to test weapons not to save lives

26.01.2010 09:02

Experiments such as these are not carried out for the sole purpose of saving soldiers but to test weapons on animals.

Any MOD facility that tests on animals [and humans too i.e. MK ULTRA] will be testing weapons including bombs, bio weapons, chemical weapons, sonic weapons and guns.

These experiments are appalling.

To help stop the Camden Bio Hazard facility being built oppose by contacting Camden Council at Camden Town Hall, Judd Street, Camden, London, WC1.

perspective

Outside of the UK (where animal rights are much more strictly adhered to) The military used pigs to train trauma surgeons in complicated surgery under difficult conditions such as combat or minimal equipment.

Fact (although you wont like it) is that soldiers getting to these surgeons have an average 80% better chance of survival than those who dont. These doctors can and do go into the NHS etc but maintain their military standing (Territorial army).

My brother is rather happy about this, you can guess why.

In a noteable rail crash in London town, the paramedics were giving up on certain "lost causes" but having the decision revoked by two such trained people, who managed to conduct minor surgery by the track.

You may not like the method, and who does but the challenge is for us to provide a viable alternative.

#now sits back and waits for the hate and politics to arrive#

@ anon: both the train industry, and the army and warfare, are both products/symptoms of the global capitalist order. dont look for sorrowful hearts here..........certainly not with me, anyway.
cheers.

The safest way medically to treat soldiers is to get them out
of illegal war zones today....
