Bomb in bin in Athens kills young Afghani boy, injures his mother and sister.

As most people following recent news on indymedia have read, in the last several weeks small bombs have been set off outside government buildings around Athens. Minor explosives, they destroyed property but didn't harm anybody.

Nobody has claimed credit yet for the latest bomb, and as an London anarchist I sincerely hope it wasn't the work of some of our Greek comrades. The bomb killed and injured an Aghani family, probably migrants and the very people we swear to protect from the oppression and harm from the state. Have we suddenly become the oppressors/harmers?
Berkman and Goldman turned their back on 'propaganda of the deed'. You can replace a broken window, but you can't replace a life.

yep... be nice to blow things up without risking life...but sounds from the sketchy details that the people who planted this thought by exploding a device outside a government office on a sunday they could avoid hurting anyone...it seems not. The fact that they eneded up killing a afghan migrant just makes it worse...

howeve, the response from the greek ministry sounds a little hypocritical....since they have a 99% refusal rate in their asylum process...condemmed even by the unhcr...

Bear in mind the possibility of a one of the numerous fascist organisations doing this to discredit leftist movements publicly. I'm not saying that for sure as I'm realistic enough to see it could have been either but you should always look at who benefits from a situation.....

Even in situations where violence is morally justified, violence is still almost always politically and strategically totally counter-productive.

Historically terrorist tactics have totally failed the Anarchist movement, and if (heaven forbid) these bombings are attributed to "Anarchists" they almost certainly aren't "comrades" but (judging by what happened in Italy in the 1970s and 1980s) Nazi or State agent-provocateurs trying to destroy popular support for radical movements in Greece.

Basically the main celluar network (no not O2 ) in greece have denied that they had anything to do with it. There is also a very politically defined nihilist movement which in some parts dominates what we in the UK call the anarchist movement. In fact there are many splits and sectarian fights between the nihilists and the more established anarchists. The conspiarcy cells communicate above is from a Nihilist Splinter.

I've been saying all along that planting bombs will get someone innocent hurt.

But everyone on indymedia told me to shut up and that the bombs were carefully placed to avoid harming people.

Looks like i was right.

How did we make the jump from placards to bombs? That's pretty extreme...there IS a middle ground of direct action in there somewhere that doesn't involving the killing of innocent people.

Although, as anarchists we are trying to liberate people from state-sponsored and implemented terrorism and oppression. Once the public fears for their lives because of our actions just as much as that of the governments, then we've corrupted ourselves. Once we start killing innocent people- and dismissing them as collateral damage (as someone did several comments above) we are no better than the bomb-makers and weapons-manufacturers we are supposed to be fighting against!

Just look at ETA. A separatist movement that started as a fight to lierate Basque country that morphed into an organization that doesn't balk at killing people to achieve their aims. Fuck that terrorism, fuck that oppression and fuck any involvement in the like!
