the only people excited by this will be the extreme right or afew on the left who dont see whats happening. Some Right wing bankers & CEOs setup Gladio & Golden Dawn rogue cells to get exactly this reaction out of us.
Dont ask the anarchist community& people to support it with hardcore p@rty line whipping,
its not working, your also helping do exactly what was done to the animal rights movement in the 1990s, when it was hijacked, now look at the way its treated.
The best sparks are in our minds, there a 100 better ways of stopping particular companies like Serco, just do it more subtley than charlie.

I think someone's been looking at too many conspiracy theory websites. ;-)

The AR movement wasn't hijacked in the 1990s, it just became a victim of its own success. Any group that bothers the establishment too much will get repression, that's just the way it works. After a while the actions start creeping up again though and the cycle repeats itself. We have seen the same cycle go round many times, but each time round the movement is a bit closer to its goal.

More subtle tactics can be used too but that's no reason not to celebrate the direct action tactics as well.

Serco are a private company that have taken over

25.04.2010 13:04

Serco are in charge of all Bradford's schools
They were found guilty of racial discrimination against one of their workers. A six-day tribunal in Leeds found that Serco Ltd, operator of Education Bradford, racially discriminated against one of its project managers Richmond Quarshie, who is Afro-Caribbean. The damning 55 page judgement also found senior bosses of the private firm, including the former managing director of Education Bradford Mark Pattison, had racially discriminated against Mr Quarshie.

Serco run Yarl's Wood Womens Detention Centre
Serco staff called the women "black monkeys" and "Chinese monkeys". The women went on hunger strike. Detainee Denise McNeil was moved to the segregation unit at Holloway to punish her for her open defiance of the Borders Agency, which includes the smuggling out of photos of injuries sustained in an assault by Serco guards after being identified as a 'ring leader' and forcibly dragged off to isolation.

"Serco is currently delivering three Flexible New Deal Phase 1 contracts:
* Greater Manchester Central, Greater Manchester East & West
* Coventry & Warwickshire, Staffordshire & The Marches
* North, Mid & South East Wales"
They are attempting to force benefits claimants to do slave labour.

We need to organise ourselves against all these bastards.

Y@wnos: "AR groups werent a victim of their own success, extreme actions some encouraged, some taken advantage of have been used to set up Nectu etc & target often innocent decent people."

I've never heard of this happening in the animal rights world. The nearest thing I know is when serial con artist Graham Hall pretended he had his back branded with the letters ALF - which miraculously healed up shortly afterwards.

AR activists really did have hard-hitting successful campaigns against places like Huntingdon Life Sciences, that's why the state had such a backlash against them. No need for them to use pretend actions as a reason for the repression.

What has this done for the prisoners.

28.04.2010 21:48

I'm not taking the piss but what is the point in this sort of stuff.

It is being called direction action. To me direct action is doing something which directly disrupts the functioning of whatever you are doing it against.

A molotov through the window of this prison company doesn't directly help those imprisoned and exploited by the prison system. Therefore it is merely an action. At best it will disrupt the functioning of this particular office for a few days but it will still be about for the other 360 days of the year.

If you are going to expose yourself to attack from the state and draw their attention to yourselves at least make it something more worthwhile.

This is more counter-productive than it is likely to increase class consciousness.
