Defend Africa House - Urgent callout!

People inside Africa house seem to want to defend the space and we can offer them support. If you've already been to Calais, you'll know how rewarding that contact can be, making a difference to a shit situation. If you haven't been before, check out the Calais Migrant Solidarity website to see what's been happening. You'll have a place to stay and can team up with others so you won't feel isolated.
If you can bring a bike to get around quickly and whistles to warn migrants of police raids, so much the better! The cops don't seem particularly interested in arresting activists, but carry your passport with you at all times cos they like to look at your pretty picture. It's almost as though they don't want any written record of opposition to their 'cleansing operation'.
If the bulding does get evicted, that's going to mean a lot of deperate people looking for somewhere else to stay. Migrants get picked up just walking along the street, sitting in the park, going to the food distribution place.. Even black people with papers are being picked up. It's hard to imagine what it's like until you actually come and witness the level of oppression people are suffering.
We have passports and relative freedom of movement and can now stand together in solidarity with those who have neither.
See you there!
