Yes I agree. It's cringeworthy. I mean, fine, do it, go ahead, but what is that subcultural bunch going to do to change anything? Workplace and community struggle along lines of class struggle and direct action (no, that does not mean knitting, or putting a flag up somewhere...) is the alternative which time and time again has improved the lives of the working class globally.

Have people seen the video of 'democracy village'? It's so funny, I really recommend it.

lighten up for god's sake. No, they probably aren't going to strike at the root of government but I'd still rather see them there than not. If nothing else the sight alone offsets the militaristic/imperial oppressiveness that normally dominates the space. Isn't that a good thing?

Anyone who has had anything to do with the Democracy camp in Parliament Square, will know what a challenging place it is to occupy. Everyone needs some way of staying sane in the place. Knitting is a very calming activity and productive as well. Good luck to the brave villagers.

The direct actions that have been launched from the square have been very effective at getting our message out we have climbed many major buildings including The houses of Parliament twice I wonder if the people critisising have ever actually done anything like that themselves? Is it not OK for someone to knit if they like? The YouTube video that you refer to was a HIT PIECE which has been very effective at keeping alot of anti war protesters away from the site and made it more difficult for the core group to keep the space running effectively. WE ARE NOT HIPPIES end of story. So dont allow yourself to fall for properganda, if you are against the war come and get involved instead of moaning on the internet
