The Foundry closed its doors on the 30th of May, forced out by property developers who plan to build a luxury hotel on the site. On the 8th of June, a group of people squatted the building and transformed the closed space into a social centre.
This group is now under threat of eviction, and has been told that bailiffs will arrive on Monday morning to clear the building for demolition.
We want to defend this space: Not only for its history and role in art and culture not only in order to prevent the hotel from being built, but to experiment with a space free from market forces.
Don't leave Shoreditch to the rich!
Resist its final transformation into a gentrified hub of lifestyle boutiques, luxury hotels, and chic restaurant chains!
We need your help on Monday at 7.30 am.
We need as many people as possible outside the building to defend the space!
Arrive from 8pm Sunday night-
Bring FRIENDS/NOISE/TENTS!
See you in the streets...
