Yeah, that's right, give the police and media a distraction to manage.

They use violence against working class people every day to maintain social conformity. They shoot innocent people and no one is punished, they beat innocent people to death and no one is punished. Why do you continue to allow what is essentially a gang of paid thugs to dish out violence against anyone who challenges social hierarchies? Why do you let others make laws that effect your life more than there own?
Wake up. The cops are never going to have the respect of the working class when they enter our communities and use violence against us.

Better fighting to be had.

And you will not get the respect of those who have the talent to take this fight to the police in a way that is effective, not pointless, futile and largely manageable.
We obviously should expect a lot of nonsense about torching police stations, punching police officers and the like to be posted here over the coming days as part of the police PR campaign to engineer a 'usable' public environment from which they can work within and go forward. Most of this will be done to prevent them experiencing internal problems as a result of their own staff becoming troublesome and to help sterilize public opinion. Fundamentally, they will expect the public and activists to become bored after a few days so wont expect to have to spend too much money for very long.
So justice for Ian and his family is going to be about playing the police at their own game which, lets be fair, is easier for us than it is for them. We'll need to surprise them, again and again.
They have limited resources and limited talent. We have an abundance of both.
This is a campaign that will see serving police officers in court being prosecuted for obstruction of justice and manslaughter. We might even have to have the law changed to accommodate this.

And what has happened....nothing.
Nothing at all.
The police as usual get away with it.
People sit back and complain, debate. as usual.
And nothing happens.

The police have had 16 months to come up with a coherent response to the conduct of the officer and a legal action against the officer according to the law. In reality they have used that time to use legal processes to protect the officer and the wider police 'service'.
There is nothing new in this, there have been many cases involving many people who have died as a result of police violence and neglect. There are hundreds of relatives of those who have died at the hands of the police who will be looking at today's announcement and will see a 'process' they will instinctively recognise.
The public have displayed universal hostility to the announcement today and there will be senior police officers who fully recognise that a point of no return has been crossed and that the days when they are able to 'investigate' themselves are now over. A very serious failing in policing has occurred today.
What will help the police right now, is to see a violent outpouring of random, incoherent violence that will allow them to 'massage' public opinion back into manageable form, a quick event that will allow them to fabricate a public concern circus involving non existant resignations and bureaucratic pencil pushing exercises.
Ian's family, the family of Jean Charles de Menezes and the families of countless other victims deserve an awful lot more than that. We have to remember that the victims have died in circumstances just as atrocious as anywhere else in the world. There was very little of Jean Charles de Menezes head left after they had finished with him!

I agree with every word of this.
I'm the first to despise lefties and all the socialism crap that comes with it. I also quite like the idea of the police herding the great unwashed about the place. I would be the first to support the police on actions like this.
But I have to totally agree with them on the issue of Ian Tomlimson. I hope that shows how much of a bad thing it is. If even a ringwing fascist is agreeing hating the police then it must be fucked.
