Fight Britain's racist immigration laws! Close Communications House!
Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! | 14.08.2010 23:23 | Anti-racism | Migration | Repression
outside Communications House Immigration Reporting Centre, Old Street London, EC1V 9BR
Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! has been holding regular monthly demonstrations outside Communications House Immigration Reporting Centre in protest against Britain's racist immigration laws since 2006.
For logistical reasons we have recently moved the time from lunchtime to early evening and the date from the first Tuesday of the month to the last Tuesday.
But the political aim remains the same - we want to draw attention to Communications House, which is an anonymous building in a central location. If you walked past, you wouldn’t know what it was or pay any attention to it. But Comms House is one of Britain’s network of Immigration Reporting Centres, where asylum seekers and other immigrants have to sign on monthly, weekly or even daily, and from where they can be snatched and taken to detention to await deportation.
Communications House is not just a signing on centre – it is also a prison. The Chief Inspector of Prisons’ remit covers ‘Short-Term Holding Facilities’, of which Communications House is one.
So join us to expose the horror behind the façade. Join the monthly demonstrations – bring your friends, noise, music, leaflets, banners! All organisations and individuals welcome!!
