The last message from Patrick was on Saturday at 5:50 am to say that he was handcuffed and had 12 security officers controlling him. Attempts to contact Patrick since then have failed. Many thanks to all who tried to prevent the removal.

Child refugees harmed by 'cruel' detention system
More than half the children caught up in Britain's asylum system have suffered permanent psychological harm, one of the most extensive investigations into the treatment of refugee families has found. Of the 141 families and children interviewed in the study, 74 children were reported to have been psychologically harmed as a result of being detained. The report, State Sponsored Cruelty, claims that many of the children witnessed violence in detention centres or were seriously disturbed after dawn raids carried out by officers working for the UK Border Agency (UKBA).

Camus Mbou Tene at risk of deportation to Cameroon on Friday
34 years old Camus is currently being detained at Dover Detention Centre. Removal directions have been set for Friday 10 September 2010 to Cameroon on Kenya Airways flight KQ101 at 8:00pm from London Heathrow via Nairobi. Camus came to the UK in 2007 to study English. Meanwhile he applied for admission to University to take a Masters in Electrical Engineering. He applied for an extension of his visa but was refused. He took the matter to court and won. The Home Office then appealed against the decision but their appeal was denied. Even through the court ruled in his favour, the Home Office never actually issued the student visa. Meanwhile, Camus managed to get through some evidence from Cameroon that his life was at risk there.
