Teresa Lewis was executed

Teresa Lewis was executed on September 23, 2010, at 9 pm by lethal injection, at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt

Teresa Lewis was executed on September 23, 2010, at 9 pm by lethal injection, at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt,[9][10] making her the 12th woman to be executed in the U.S. since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976[11][12] and the first woman in the state of Virginia to be executed since 1912 (the previous woman executed was Virginia Christian who died in the electric chair). Lewis is the first woman in Virginia to be executed by lethal injection.[13][14] Lewis is also the first woman to be executed in the U.S since Frances Newton in 2005,[15] and the second woman to be executed since the noted execution of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in 2002 in the state of Florida.[16] On September 17, 2010, Virginia governor Bob McDonnell decided to not stop Lewis upcoming execution,[17] stating: "Having carefully reviewed the petition for clemency, the judicial opinions in this case, and other relevant materials, I find no compelling reason to set aside the sentence that was imposed by the Circuit Court and affirmed by all reviewing courts".[18] An appeal was filed to the US Supreme Court for a stay of execution and subsequently rejected on September 21, 2010.[19] Lewis' supporters also stated that "Lewis is deeply remorseful and has been a model prisoner, helping fellow female inmates cope with their circumstances."[20] [21] Lewis herself had stated that "I just want the governor to know that I am so sorry, deeply from my heart. And if I could take it back, I would, in a minute ... I just wish I could take it back. And I'm sorry for all the people that I've hurt in the process."[22]

the governer deserves to die

It's ok for the government to murder people but not any one else. And no one can see the hypocrisy.

I hope they get the men that did it and give them a dose of their own injection.

If you can't do the time then don't do the crime. Or was this one innocent like all the other residents of Death Row?

sounds like she was a scumbag

I'm against the death penalty and against the state altogether but it does sound like this woman was a bit of a scumbag, hiring people to kill her husband and stepson.

I think she admitted the offence but claimed low IQ made her vulnerable to manipulation. Still, it's a major fuckup to kill two innocent people.

Is it bad that the state murdered her? Yes, but not really hypocrisy since she wasn't "innocent", unlike her victims. In a sense, she deserved it, even if no one has the right to kill her. The state is basically saying it is OK to kill "bad" people, but not "good" people. Still wrong IMHO, but not inconsistent.

wht did it take so long

glad the evil bitch is dead just sad it took so long to kill her whatever you think of the death penalty we can sleep safer knowing there is no chance this evil waste of skin will ever commit evil crimes again may her victims rip may she rot in hell

glad shes dead

Ok let's look at this another way

24.09.2010 18:39

Ken Saro Wiwa was effectively murdered by Shell executives.
500 animals are tortured to death every day at HLS
What about Union Carbide in Bhopal.
If we are going to slaughter murderers then so be it by why stop at a woman who is obviously not the full shilling and has only been responsible for the deaths of two people. The scum who aloowed the massacre at Bhopal for instance deserve the death penalty MUCH more.
I am disgusted by the callous comments on here, of course she did something wrong but murdering her today was also an atrocity. She would have been no danger to anyone else unlike those who run multinationals. The death penalty is an appalling human rights abuse no matter what the crime. The only time it is in any way acceptable is when there is no other way of protecting the public from someone at present even someone hell bent on killing repeatedly can be locked away in as humane conditions as possible. Remember she did very littkle compared to those who have the blood of the innocent on their hands for mere profit and are respected as good bussinessmen and women.
