Yesterday, activists held mobile demonstrations around Brick Lane to protest against the fur trade. Campaigners dressed up as all things creepy to spread the message that everyday is Halloween for the animals on fur farms.

First of all was This Shop Rocks (131 Brick Lane, London, E1 6SE / Tel: 020 7739 7667 /  thisshoprocks@hotmail.co.uk) where the owner, Tim Sanderson, decided to simply lock the doors and try to ignore the protest. Members of the public, however, all stood watching and many gave their support.

Next it was onto Rockit (107 Brick Lane, London, E1 6SE / Tel: 0207 7375 3864 /  rokit@rokit.co.uk), the second largest sellers of real fur in the area. This is the first protest they have had, so activists made the message loud and clear - the fur trade has no future. Staff locked all the doors and speedily removed all fur from sale. The store manager also came out and informed campaigners he would speak to the company directors regarding taking up a fur-free policy.

Last of all it was onto Beyond Retro (Reflextion House, 110-112 Cheshire Street, Bethnel Green, London E2 6EJ / Tel: 020 7613 3636 /  kate.peters@beyondretro.com)
where the usual noisy demo was held and support was received from members of the public.

The day was a success and we will be continuing protest in the East End until the area is ridden of the fur trade.
