Hamley's of London have come under fire for plans to use live penguins as part of an in-store publicity stunt this Monday, to launch their events running up to Christmas.

Hamley's of London have come under fire for plans to use live penguins as part of an in-store publicity stunt this Monday, to launch their events running up to Christmas.

These penguins will be forced to stay inside the boiling and loud store, subject to un-natural conditions - a far cry from their normal habitat and freezing climate. Using penguins to sell Christmas presents also draws the connotations that these animals are nothing but mere toys. This deplorable attempt to bring in customers has even been condemned by the Zoological Society of London.

Greater London Action for Animals (GLAA) are calling a demonstration outside Hamley's on monday morning to oppose their use of sentient animals as objects to promote sales.
