Soft northern fools

..a private buyer wood maybe replant felled areas with local provinance native trees, thus halting the tradititional Forestry Commissions completly moronic coniferisation policy. However, idealy these FC forests need 2b in genuine local community tenure, as per the alpine forests, with community management and operations..with the estates being taken by direct action, or given back 2 people and taken off this arrogant and idiotic state organisation. I did hear that gov. Was planning 2 give some FC forests 2 charitable trusts ..that could b set up and run by local commuities. If for real, this should b policy 4 all current FC estate..at present the FC forest estate costs the taypayer money - thats ridiculas. The potential 4 sound local livihoods, 4 sound nativ tre based ecology is huge!

The moronity of being conifer

..i wrote a paper deconstructing in economic and poetical terms the uk's pro conifer and forest tenure policy a few years ago. I put it up ona nu forum. Doing a websearch 4 terms: 'permaculture' and 'rise up' should bring the forum up..the essay is called 'cringe at my former naivity'..but on the other hand, its seems the current policy change proposal may permit local communities to 'make it real' without having 2 enact a rural revoltution - in the case of some english only forests. Scottish FC estate wil stil b subject 2 'buy out', community or otherwise, and all welsh FC forests are destined 2 remain dark satanic moronic conifer deserts it seems..god, if only these wankers wood rise up and take them - huge potential empowerment and real medicene in NVDA.

...ok, so many people in the UK dont have any concept of real community tenure of forests, (thanks to the determined efforts of the London power in the past) but they should be aware of the reality of the total and complete stupidity of the FC's current coniferisation type policy...the policy should be no confierisation unless strickly neccessary, as shelter nurseries for natives, and for edible and useful tree species such as Pinus edulis. That should be emacted IMMEDIATELY by central government. Thats something genuinely useful that the Cameron politrickion ego monster demon form could do...as well as the more radical possibilty of making real community forest tenure real.

Read the paper I suggest above - the economics of the cost benefit analysis promoted by the FC themselves show a negative net present value for most FC estates - and then think of those empowered and vibranbt alpine communities with community tenure of the neaighbouring forests. compare that to the hostile and paranoid vibe towards visitors by many welsh sheep ranchers - cheeky fuking subsidy junkys!

OAK is useless now

01.02.2011 00:15

A year or so ago the FC showed how stupid it is to plant Oak trees. They were in the forest of Dean and each tree had symptoms of two or three killing diseases. None were expected to survive. If you plant Oaks now, it very difficult to get them to grow, Squirrels play hell.

Such is the stupidity of British Communities that when they get their hands of a stand of prime timber ready for its first profitable thinning, instead of thinning so that there might be years of profitable prime timber taken as each thinning causes the growth of the remainder to accelerate in volume, they clear fell the lot in order to get the grant the stupid politicians offer for planting native trees. They are those stupid subsidy junkies.

THere is a fine class of rip off artists who go around taking money for teaching Permaculture. The big joke is that those rip off atrists' grandfathers are the ones who stopped the grandfathers of those they take money off practicing their traditional sustainable agriculture so that art was lost in those communities..

If you want to grow the finest timber, there are two outstanding trees. One from the far North, and one from Japan. Planting those is a good each way bet on climate change. The new UK climate should suit one or the other. If you must have a faster return, then plant Cryptomeria Japonica which beats sitka by being a durable timber that does not so acidify the ground. There are others that are better than that, grow faster, and are pretty firproof. They should be planted now ready to rebuild the Cities if their populations survives.
