Das ist eine der brillianten Facetten der begeisternden Volkserhebung in Ägypten: diese hat nicht nur die Unrechtmäßigkeit des Mubarak-Regimes ans Licht gebracht, sondern auch die Verlogenheit hinter den Kampagnen des Westens, in den Mittleren Osten „die Demokratie zu bringen.“ Als ich das letzte Mal zu Gast in „Moral Maze” („Irrgarten der Moral“ – Sendung der BBC, d.Ü.) war, wurde ich ordentlich zerzaust, weil ich sagte, dass politische Gewalt – im Rahmen eines radikalen Protests – manchmal gerechtfertigt ist.

In dieser Woche führten einige Gäste in Moral Maze eine ruhige, höfliche Diskussion über die Möglichkeit, gegen die freiheitshungrigen Menschen in Ägypten eine viel massivere Form politischer Gewalt einzusetzen. Professor David Cesarani, einer der Gäste, gab die Idee von sich, dass ein Massaker in der Art dessen vom Tienanmen-Platz eine Möglichkeit wäre, eine mögliche Anarchie in der Zeit nach Mubarak zu unterdrücken. Und da gab es keine Aufregung. Kein Sturm auf Twitter, keine hitzigen Blogs, keine aufgeregten Anrufe beim Sender. Vielleicht ist es heutzutage normal, über Massaker an Ägyptern zu reden. .........
