Members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union have staged a series of walkouts that lasted up to two hours at the HMRC offices at the waterfront in Brierley Hill, Dudley this week. The action is over plans to reduce the time off allowed for staff to recover from illness. HMRC’s new polices mean managers will take action against staff who have more than five days off due to illness or three separate periods of leave due to illness in a year.
350 workers are also working to rule, refusing to do overtime and refusing to use their own cars for business purposes.
Members of the union have also voted to support strike action if the department refuses to back down and change the policy.
