Good (and funny) report here...

19.07.2011 17:36

...at the Register.

 http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/07/19/rupert_murdoch_custard_pie/

Quotable quote: "Activist ladyslapped by Wendi Murdoch, now in custardy"

and from the activist who was about to perform the dastardly deed;

"It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before #splat".

Well done to custard geezer. Should've been a housebrick though. :(

Mr Pastry

Bet he was paid by Murdoch to do it

19.07.2011 18:36

Tommorrows papers will have that story on rather than the real facts that would damage murdoch. I bet he is really thankful for this and wouldn't be surprised if it was an inside job
You are a fool for thinking this is a victory..... its a distraction strategy that will work perfectly

Let's sentence...

I'd say a couple of hundred hours community service - sorry, 'unpaid work' for unprovoked common assault on a frail old man. And three years imprisonment for Contempt of Parliament.

Anyone giving evidence to a parliamentary committee is entitled to do so safe from vicious thugs like this one. The assault on Murdoch was an assault on democracy and must be severely punished.

And some of us queued all morning to get a seat, only to be kicked out because of this moron.

Pie Eater

conspiracy?

Needn't have been paid - the lack of strategic thinking among radicals and the need for teenage glory is the establishment's most powerful weapon.

Where's the fucking solidarity?

19.07.2011 23:21

This news made my day!

Its abolutely fucking pathetic to see those brown-nosing politicians & journalists coming out in condemnation, in spite of Murdoch's bloody obvious corruption.
I guess we shouldn't expect any better from them - what's most surprised me though is the outstanding naiveity shown by the comment above and elsewhere on this story.

@Inside job - a distraction? Er, from what exactly?! Do you seriously think that, had it not been for this (fantastic) action, Murdoch would be held to account for this scandal? Since when did a public inquiry ever come to *anything*?

Now the papers are attempting a hatchet job on the pie-thrower so a little solidarity instead of laughable naiveity wouldn't go amiss.

Attack of the AnarchoNegativists!

20.07.2011 11:28

AnarchoNegativists: anarchists who like to be negative about everything that is slightly positive.

Conspiracy theorists fall into this category too: anything anyone does that might provoke a reaction from the state must be an "agent provocateur". Genuine activists do absolutely nothing effective, so as to deny the state an opportunity to crack down.

But you also get the familiar theoretical anarchist who likes to take every opportunity to "critique" whatever other activists are doing (not "class-conscious" enough, too "class-conscious", not "radical" enough, too "elitist", blah, blah).

Lighten up people, and remove that rod that's jammed up your arse. We all do things in different ways and if Murdoch gets a pie in his face then great and well done to whoever did it. I don't really want to hear endless theoretical and conspiratorial whinings about how it's not good enough.

I'm sure most of these whiners are genuine people, but it does provide an excellent trolling template for cops/fascists and others wanting to put a downer on any radical action.
