OCCUPY MANCHESTER ........ The Tories Best Friend

Little Missappropriate | 20.10.2011 15:16 | Occupy Everywhere | Indymedia | Other Press | Public sector cuts | Liverpool | Sheffield

We are an occupation of the 99% in Manchester in the UK.
As we write this we are entering our 15th day.

We believe that the 1% of people on this planet that control the rest
need their power removing, we come from a thousand places with a
thousand causes, with, but one message, Freedom !!
We are currently located at the Peace Gardens near St. Peter’s Square.

(Occupy Manchester)

Occupy Manchester, the group of individuals who at best, possibly inspired by
Occupy Wall Street, or at worst, seeking self idolatry, and ego-boosting publicity,
have “packed-up” and gone home, leaving many who initially, praised them, in bewilderment and with a bitter taste in their mouths.

Initially, many in Manchester waited with baited breath, as the seemingly radical Occupy Manchester group, stated its aims ahead of the Tory Party Conference in the city, proclaiming that Sunday October 2nd was a veritable D-Day for Mancs, they, in support of, and in imitation of Occupy Wall Street (USA) would occupy Albert Square in the city and stay there no matter what ……

Sadly, what followed was a comedy of errors which left many people aghast at the incompetence of it all, seriously, the following, reads like a blueprint of farce.

Firstly, The much publicised hundreds of occupiers, who would swarm from the Anti-Tory Conference march, were actually about 15, who initially ran into the square, waving a few banners, this slowly, as the day progressed, turned into about 70, who milled around with no particular plan, as the afternoon wore on, it started raining, and over half of the “activists” sloped off and went home !!!! Such dedication.

Secondly, a few days later, it was reported that Occupy Manchester
(now down to around 15 bodies) were no longer in occupation of Albert Square.
They had “moved ??” to the city’s Peace Gardens, with kind permission of police and council.
Was this a result of Intimidation ? Police brutality ? Court orders ?? ………

Sadly no ! It appears, a well known retailer, had asked the “activists” would they mind moving, as said retailer had some out-door event planned in Albert Square.
With no hesitation, said “activists” rolled over and capitulated, abandoning the square, their dignity, pride and credibility.
The retailers name ? …………………….. Harvey Nicks ???? !!!!!!!

Thirdly, said Occupiers of Mancs, now decamped to the Peace Gardens, and tried posting stirring speeches on Facebook about how the struggle would continue etc,
They were even quoted as stating that several local businesses had been donating food and drink in their kindness. However, Occupy Mancs stated that the businesses did not wish to be named ?? Why ??? Who would suffer, and in what way if the names were revealed ???
This is Manchester !!! Not Bloody Syria !!!!

Finally, and laughably, on the 20th October, Occupy Mancs announced it was leaving the Peace Gardens, almost as though, the job was done and success had been achieved !!!!!!

Occupy Manchester has let the City of Manchester and the Global Occupation Movement down, Big Time … For all your ”Radical” talk about Solidarity and Occupation at any Cost, what you in fact organised was a … Crassly Self-serving, Poorly attended, Police and Council approved SLEEP-OVER in the local Peace Gardens, shortly after running away from the Capitalist and Tory frequenting HARVEY (Cameron, my wife shops there) NICKS, just because they “asked” you too !!! You have made a mockery of the UK’s Occupation Movement in the North, and no-one will treat anything you (say and do in future) with respect again !!
