Fur Free Brighton

CAFT Brighton | 24.10.2011 22:53 | Animal Liberation

Fighting to stop the bloody fur trade

The shops listed below are selling multiple items made of fur. Many of them claim the fur is ‘vintage’, although we question this claim.
Please phone, email or pop in and (politely) let them know about the disgusting, cruel and unnecessary fur industry that they're supporting.

With the fur industry dying out as more people become aware of the reality of the cruelty involved in fur production, the trend for ‘vintage’ clothing is being used as a last attempt to make fur seem acceptable to the public once again.
But regardless of whether an animal was killed yesterday or 20 years ago, they will have suffered immensely simply for ‘fashion’.
Millions of animals are raised in tiny wire mesh cages on fur farms or caught in brutal traps in the wild, before being killed through strangulation, gassing, electrocution or having theirs necks broken (amongst other methods).
There’s no excuse for this cruelty…

Let's make Brighton fur free!

neil

why would they claim to be Vintage, of course its vintage they are vintage shops

25.10.2011 19:16

I'm interested in your comment regarding fur from 20 years ago, which would mean it was made in the 90's, these shops you discuss sell vintage, meaning the fur is much older than that, what about fur from 50, 60s 70 or 80 years ago, how do you know where this fur came from????

These are totally different times to the times we live in now, they could even have been bi-products, they certainly weren't mass produced. There weren't so many man made fibers and wool, leather and fur were used to keep warm.

Your argument doesn't stand up and your facts, well actually you don't have any just pure hearsay.

There are many awful things in the world but recycling a coat from the 1950's isn't one.

Why no tackle something that will make a difference instead of taking the lazy easy option bullying small independent retailers, traders who make Brighton what it is, free, liberal and non commercial.

Not mentioned Beyond retro, why's that, because they've taken you to court by any chance.

Incredible what some people think is important to focus time and energy on.

To give an illustration of the state of the anti fur protests in this country, sales are up, the Harrods seven year protest has led to them increasing the size of the fur department and selling more than ever, eleven new fur shops have opened in the UK since 2008.

In Response To Neil R.E 'Hypocrites'

Neil, why protest against halal or kosher meat? After all, do you honestly think that these forms of slaughter are any worse than any other form of slaughter? Killing is killing, it matters not how it is done, it is all wrong. And as for being afraid of being branded 'racist', well the last time I checked halal and kosher practices were performed by particular religionists, not particular races, so I'm not quite sure how that would work.
